Immigration enforcement is bad. The rules determining who can be “legal” constrain the choices available to people, and the US has not permitted people to “get legal”. “Normal” immigration enforcement is dehumanizing and violent, antithetical to democracy,
This is good! Core point is that there’s no ‘training’ or ‘accountability’ measure that could constrain this agency because it is not doing immigration enforcement. It is conducting terror raids under the pretense of immigration enforcement.

What Jamelle misses is that the "training" counterinsurgency technique was developed by the punishment bureaucracy propagandists precisely because it sounds nice while being profitable, distracts from structural issues, and de-radicalizes the demands of well-meaning liberals.
