Shoutout to my wife @danieledhunter.bsky.social who makes me a special batch of undecorated cookies for every cookie making holiday because I cannot stand the taste of frosting or the texture of sprinkles.

If anyone has any leads on public health jobs in the NYC area, I am here with my MPH in epidemiology and research experience and a few publications!

My shiny new master’s degree and I have a barista interview in an hour because the job market is a nightmare and public health jobs are so difficult to get. Plus free coffee.

In light of the recent changes by RFK jr’s ACIP to eliminate the universal birth dose of the Hep B vaccine in the US, a decision which will result in preventable infections and deaths in this country, it seems timely to remind everyone of the global consequences of this incredibly prevalent pathogen

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

This is the worst case scenario that everybody was worried about
It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.

And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

That’s the thing man. If they are to be taken at their word the only takeaway is that there should be no black people in any job any other white person wants. One quick Google search for any of these jobs would show there are usually one or two minorities are best in a unit of 20 or 30 or more.
UAlbany, one of those, NY state universities, has been hovering around 4 percent tenure track Black faculty since ever. I am THE Black tenure track political scientists. These folks are just little liars.
You’ll never guess who else experienced ‘racism’ on the job market despite their unimpeachable academic credentials.

It's the morning after my last grad school class, my last final ever, and my body still woke me up at 5:45 (admittedly later than usual). So I am at the weirdly sterile coffee shop near my apartment having a coquito shaken espresso and working on capstone before work starts at 9:00.

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.
