Lord knows I'm not a fan of any of this corporate media consolidation — Netflix and Paramount both should be barred from buying WBD.

But in terms of sending a message, would be stellar if everyone watched Good Night and Good Luck on Netflix together next Sunday when 60 Minutes is on the air.

I disagree. Some may not care, but that’s always the case. I would assume they care a great deal, but are otherwise trapped. We need reporters to feel safe going outside what have been generational norms of their industry. They need to know they won’t be ending their career for nothing.
The White House knows they can call the press names, denigrate reporters, all of it — because those same reporters and mainstream outlets are in on the scam. They get access and scoops and book deals and career advancement by cozying up to the people who publicly abuse them. They don’t care.

In a democracy, the press – reporters – are the representatives of We, the People. That’s why our nation’s Founders protected the press in the First Amendment. When Trump attacks reporters, calling them “Piggy“ and threatening their networks, he is really attacking you and me.

We should reboot journalism completely. Start from scratch. They should get those old timey hats and a pencil and figure it out from there

it's time for journos to start asking Johnson meta questions

"Speaker, on 5 occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about news events w/big implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker to be so woefully uninformed?"

$4200 per year is 100 per week for 42 weeks, which would still be 10 weeks short, in addition to still being an economic miracle with current prices.
