My drawing hand's not doing well so it's all old rerun art for Halloween this year. I really want to work on some new horror movie art before too long. Bleagh.
Drawing done of Nola Carveth and her brood children from the movie The Brood. Drawn in blue and red pencil with some lines darkened with a regular drawing pencil.

Since I’m talking about horror, and it’s many audience, I’m going to pimp this piece. It’s about the research into why people are attracted to horror, and what I see in the research is ppl looking for a new, better relationship to fear. Free to all.

— only buy tech too old to have AI built in
— painstakingly disable AI every time they add it to something that used to work perfectly well
— if it can't be switched off, abandon the platform or tool
— if there are no good alternatives, avoid the AI parts
— patiently wait for the crash

It's 1925. I'm leanin' against this lamppost on the lookout for dames who are lookin for trouble. I start flipping a quarter. I catch her eye. I fumble the quarter and it rolls into a sewer grate. I have lost the equivalent of thirty thousand dollars.

I enjoy a well-thought-out, rule-based magic system in fiction as much as anyone, BUT I also think that we should give more props to what Terry Pratchett did in the Discworld books, where it was less about rules and more about vibes and, more importantly, what fit a given story the best.
