"They found the coats on Thursday morning.

Fifteen winter coats. Good ones, not garbage. Hanging on the chain-link fence outside Lincoln Elementary. No note. No explanation. Just coats zipped up like ghosts waiting for bodies.

Principal Morris freaked out. Called the police. "Could be stolen"

Please help Ahmad's family survive Israel's ongoing genocide. Palestinians have been left to die homeless & starving as winter storms flood the camps, & Ahmad is unwell & needs treatment & warmth. Bluesky keeps deleting him, & support has collapsed:

Weiss has no real morals or ethics, she is specifically incompetent when it comes to writing, editing, & managing the reporting that *good* journalism requires BUT she is in no way ignorant of the actual process of journalism.

It’s not really the excessive wealth as much as it is the internal compromises one has to make for the mindset to acquire that kind of wealth to take root. Like just thinking if the steps someone would have to take to make that kind of exploitation & hoarding okay even on a personal level
I have grown to believe that excessive wealth does something to your brain that is analogous to a serious head injury

One of the in-universe details that I’m kind of fascinated w/ is Benoit Blanc being very well known but not instantly recognized.
Thoughts on Wake Up Dead Man
- this was very fun and smart
- Rian Johnson is really smart storyteller (and apparently a great human, which makes me happy)
- I would really love to see Benoit Blanc on The View

Getting people to move to engage a thing usually means they’re interacting w/ others to do it & that will always create a larger reaction than something that happens in relative isolation.

Today is the 70th anniversary of Rosa Parks' arrest. Six myths: 1) She wasn't old or tired. 42 years old that day, she had a "life history of being rebellious" & had spent two decades helping to turn the Montgomery NAACP into a more activist branch alongside ED Nixon and Johnnie Carr.

People catastrophizing about a precedent where no one can mark anything down anymore for being wrong when the real precedent is trans people not being able to do literally any job without an army of bigots launching a harassment campaign against their employer.
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

My grandad saying a I looked like Robert Redford, it wasn't so much compliment in and of itself (flattering but *a stretch*) but the way he lit up when he made the connection, like it had just dawned on him.
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.

Years ago having Thanksgiving at my grandparents retirement community in Asheville, everyone decided we weren’t going to cook & eat at their cafeteria around noon, the rest of the family ignored me when I said we should prepare something bc there’s no way it was going to tide us over for a full day
yes, hello, I would like to place an order for everyone’s funniest stories of holiday food-related family grudges / drama / chaotic incidents / lore

I feel like we need this

"I have lived through the massacre every day. Our country may forget this history, but I cannot," she told Congress in 2021.

Really cannot stress enough that if you start from the assumption that no one deserves to be raped then you don’t have to highlight the specific vulnerabilities of particular survivors in order to get people on board with the fact that their violation was a bad thing
