Talk about horror versions of Pokémon and Animal Crossing reminded me of this thing I did a while back, figuring that AC: New Horizons was ripe for a cosmic horror spin-off…
The title page for ANIMAL CROSSING: EVENT HORIZON Isabelle in the captain’s chair, babbling happily about not needing eyes to see after gouging her own ones out.

"The modern tech industry is, by the standards of capitalism, unusually dependent on a cult of personality built around a few extremely rich, very stupid white men ... attacking the tech industry means stripping these people of their aura of invulnerability"

Vulgar, horny and threatening | deadSimpleTech
In short, there are three major avenues of opposition to the tech industry: the vulgar, the horny and the threatening, mapping to attacks on the tech industry's luminaries from below, horizontally and...

going to big Tesco, anyone need anything?
Front of The Oldest House from CONTROL with "BIG TESCO" scrawled across in a title card fashion. The Tesco extra logo can be seen on the front of the building.

God, it's the worst when you have to do the Big Shop and end up being chosen by the Service Barcode Scanner to become the new Manager in order to vanquish the infestation of otherworldly shoplifters.

Ugh.

There's something just innately satisfying to me about the double-tap of the space bar when finishing a thought that I'm trying to untrain in myself.

Thankfully, most word processing software can fix it automatically for me when I slip up...

Using #makeaterriblecomicday2025 as an excuse ignore the internal critic and get something out of my head.

Inspired by COLD REACTOR by Everything Everything
4-panel strip illustrating the opening lyrics of COLD REACTOR by Everything Everything:

So we built the mountain
By digging an almighty hole
And on our backs, we carried every rock and stone
But now, the hole is deeper
Than anybody ever planned
And we're blocking out the sun

Came here to post this, remember it being publicised as Marvel's version of Frank Miller's Dark Knight. Which is a bit of a stretch...

I like the idea of evangelical christians and mall goths existing as mythical cryptids, only talked of in hushed rumours and occasionally captured in blurry, shaky phone cam footage.

Like bigfoot, but with more tracts and wallet chains.

stopthatalex.bsky.social
NGL, I can only imagine how weird it must be for anyone looking in from the outside. I was maybe 10 when it occurred to me that there were people out there who WEREN'T Christian and it blew my tiny mind.

I'm an ex worship leader, and I was lucky enough to play with musicians who enjoyed secular music and took it as inspiration. But there are absolutely folk out there who will listen to nothing but CCM, and that used to baffle me even when I was part of a church community.
stopthatalex.bsky.social
And those with a particularly performative evangelical strain of Christianity will listen to it in front of others, partly to demonstrate how cool CCM is to non-believers and partly to show off their own piousness.
stopthatalex.bsky.social
Outside of church, CCM is supposed to exist as an alternative to secular pop/rock but with all the potentially blasphemous and challenging content filed off.
In order to avoid potentially satanic media getting a foothold in a pure Christian mind, some folk listen to nothing but CCM.

If it's your sort of spiritual ballad with an uplifting chorus, all the better. Anything that can be belted outnwith your eyes closed and arms in the air is a winner.
