The US Forest Service fired 3,400 workers. This includes fire management workers who do controlled burns to prevent forest fires. They fired workers for Sequoia National Park, Yosemite, Angeles National Forest, and more federally protected lands in California which are at high risk for wildfires.

This will make immigrants even less likely to report if they’re victims of a crime. This will give abusers free rein to terrorize immigrants without fear of repercussions. This might even worsen illegal immigration by enabling human trafficking, because the traffickers won’t be reported.
