Why do people pirate books when you can borrow them from a library? I can’t afford to buy books but my library is free
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

i do knock off lego (because it's affordable) but not the mico bricks, the half size bricks. It's really satisfying to make up a little animal I have splurge on the unicon, parrot and drog 3in 1 legos and they're especially awesome
Kind of linking up to yesterday's question for #SecretSantaAoNZ are you a puzzles, or activity book kind of relaxer?

Wellington, this is the place to be tonight. Catherine is such a wonderful and passionate person to hear her talk about anything is a boost to your brain and soul
Tonight we’re giving an author talk at Unity Books Wellington at 6pm! Our presentation features our favourite research moments, artwork by Emily Cumming Harris & we're bringing our collection of rare hand-coloured books from the 1890s to display. www.facebook.com/share/1FN2pX...

Latest iteration of The Paramount in Wellington is depressing. I know the world changes but it was a special cinema. I saw films there as a tot, worked there as adult, once under someone who love cinema and later under people who had 0 idea. Now the projection room is gone forever :(

when someone with a more successful felt page than mine orders something i feel I'm ok at this craft thing. Which is not so much imposter syndrome than having to fit what i can make for selling around my energy levels. I suspect without CFS i'd be making far more elaborate things

one final thing - if you are stuck - don't worryjust pack up a bar of whittaker's chocolate (not a coffee flavour, i adore the taste but it makes me jumpy) and a note and i will be so happy. The best part of secret santa is playing and watching, the gifts feel like a bonus #SecretSantaAoNZ

"The unknown state of underground infrastructure was the major reason behind the latest cost blowout." wellingtons pipes are a water issue that has to get fixed at some point. Maybe @andrewlittlenz.bsky.social wants to be a Mayor like Kerry, Celia, Justin and not fix water?

#SecretSantaAoNZ I'm a coeliac i also get eczema when i'm stressed so i'm pretty careful about what i put on my skin, i also can get headaches or sometimes asthma from things that smell to strong like highly scented candles or perfume. So possibly best to avoid
Today's #SecretSantaAoNZ question is a pretty important one.
Make sure you add the hashtag to your replies so it's easily searchable for your Santa. We wouldn't want them to miss it.

my feet are size 9 and i love a good sock, although there is no such things as a bad sock because you need socks for all occasions. I use socks as slippers, to warm toes after a cold swim #SecretSantaAoNZ
Another question for #SecretSantaAoNZ
While you're here, what about the size of your head for hats, hands for gloves, clothing size for anything else you might like.

I love Christmas, i love handmade, i love store bought , i love going all out with decorations and sparkle. The day itself is normal, I go for a swim at the beach and have a quiet day watching films with my Mum because her age (94) and my health (CFS) make life a bit slow & boring #SecretSantaAoNZ

from reading this it sounds as if the blow outs are due to water - which is going to have to be fixed at some point anyway. I want my city back, i want it's shiny and fun

This is so awesome #SecretSabtaAoNZ and to my Santa I’m going to do some about me posts later today.

I find it incredibly weird to be watching so much international cricket in NZ in November. I remember going to brisbane for the first ashes test at the end of october to celebrate Dad's 70th. It was so exciting to have international cricket on his birthday. But this is what global warming does

pink and orange is my favourite colour combination. When it comes to colour as long as it's not beige i love it (exception is natural wood or beige as a background to colour) colour and pattern are my life, think maximalism plus a little more and you get my vibe #SecretSantaAoNZ
Today's question for #SecretSantaAoNZ
Especially great for all the crafting Santas we're blessed with when they're sleuthing.

No, sorry Wellington, you can't have your city improvements, that you have voted in favour of, countless times, because Andrew wants to give himself and his mates a payrise
