Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family. Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace. We pray for a fast and full recovery.

Just spent a few hours with middle school kids talking about pollution and censorship. They are smarter than most adults I’ve seen talking about either issue. Seriously. Listen to the kids.

Orlando City Commissioner Tony Ortiz just switched from Republican to Democratic.

“The Republican Party is not the party I signed up with... The marginalization of Latinos and immigrants—many of whom have helped build this country—is not leadership. It’s fear-based politics.”

So that's what Big Balls did with the terabytes of data he stole from the National Labor Relations Board a few weeks ago.
On Friday ICE agents stopped a bus in Albion, NY. They had a list of names, and took 14 people into custody

Those workers—and their employer—happened to be involved in one of the most crucial labor struggles in the state in recent memory

“They Actually Had a List”: ICE Arrests Workers Involved in Landmark Labor Rights Case
“We are concerned at the appearance of targeting publicly pro-union worker leaders,” said a UFW official about an ICE raid in New York.

It took 249 years for America to build the most potent and respected military organization in the world.

And 100 days for a felon draft dodger and a Fox host drunkard to turn its leadership into a worldwide joke.

This is why I deleted Duolingo this week.
70% of their employees gone.

The world can't exist just to make rich people richer.
I have completely deleted my Duolingo. I was informed by one of my kids that the company has removed most of its employees and 70% of the company is run by AI.

I urge everyone to delete their app.
Duolingo CEO says he's getting rid of contract employees and replacing them with AI
Duolingo employees can also expect their AI use to be graded in their performance reviews.

Our office led the legal defense of this election, pushing back against an effort to throw out tens of thousands of lawful votes.

I think this is something that isn’t said out loud enough:

The majority of MAGA is motivated by what Trump will take from someone else, rather than what he will provide them. They’re willing to have less, so someone else will have nothing.

Putting this out into the universe on the off-chance that there's someone with experience in publishing collaborative art books who would want to work with me to make this happen...
I also wish there were a solarpunk art book! I keep thinking I want this project to exist, but I don't really feel up for taking it on (or honestly have any idea how to go about making a collaborative art book).

In-class writing. I do essay exams. I'm thinking about doing handwritten, in-class papers. Even if I have to go very old school to do it, I'm gonna teach my students how to write.
I think it is reasonable to say that writing essays has been made obsolete by generative AI. It just means we need to think a little differently about mastery. nymag.com/intelligence...

The way these people talk about Abrego Garcia, it’s as if he sexually assaulted dozens of women, stole classified materials about nuclear secrets, colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election, extorted state election officials & incited an insurrection to violently overturn the 2020 election.
