this was why I did this - was checking my hunch that this place just works better for me so I could answer the question an editor posed with "no"

Do you think Labour might notice that almost the exact same % they lost went to the Greens and Lib Dems here? 🤷‍♀️

There's a very weird kind of Stockholm syndrome created by Ofsted and I wish people wouldn't buy into it. I understand why they feel trapped into doing that though.
suecowley.bsky.social
Yes I'm always a bit taken aback by boasting about data like progress 8 or Ofsted results because surely people understand the damage competition around accountability does.
suecowley.bsky.social
It probably was but those flags in the windows are plain tacky and if they're going to do it for England they need to do it for all the countries of the UK as well which I've never seen them do.

When people on edutwitter started saying openly, 'if you don't like it go somewhere else'.

When you come at inclusion via the early years idea of creating an 'enabling environment' then what happens is that you adapt the setting to suit the children rather than trying to adapt the children to suit the setting.

Really worrying how much of this stuff we're seeing already *and then I see a schoolsweek article about schools wanting teachers to make their own 'deep fake' videos*. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

This IPSOS chart is why I think it's a big mistake for Farage to publicly turn on teachers. A politician said what? 😒
Most trusted professions chart with teachers highly trusted in 5th place with 85% and politicians obviously right at the bottom on 11%. Nurses are the most trusted.

Sue, have you seen the research on emotional burden on ND children in schools? The research team (incl CYP) has identified & validated a list of ‘commonly upsetting experiences’ that contribute to poor MH - see page 10. Shows schools what to tweak?

I'm fascinating by this photo. Surely it can't be real and yet it appears that it is? Talk about tacky/flagshagger territory. Eww.

An election defeat is not the only way Sir Keir Starmer might exit office. He could decide he’s had enough and resign. Or he could be ousted by a coup within his own Labour Party. But this is what gamblers reckon

It does really concern me that
education is not understanding the potential impact of the control + punitive approaches on well behaved/quiet children. It's why I became a school refuser as a child. It can breed anxiety. Sorry to hear about your daughter's situation.

Let's face it the far right are madly cosplaying already. Why shouldn't the frogs and an entire multitude of inflatable animals also get in on the act? 🐸♥️

Bondi claiming they arrested [checks notes] "the girlfriend of one of the founders of antifa" has me in stitches

Bondi: "Bondi: "Just like we did with cartels, we are going to take the same approach, President Trump, with antifa -- destroy the entire organization from top to bottom. We are going to take them apart."

The lack of cope in that tweet is hilarious. They should study this stuff for GCSE English imho.

Those are three people in inflatable frog suits.
@MrAndyNgo
Now that the local and national press have started to cover the Portland ICE area round-the-clock in reaction to the President, Antifa have devised a plan where they are encouraging one another to come in animal costumes.

The costumes serve the function of masking the violent extremism to make the direct action appear like a family-friendly gathering on camera, and to whitewash the past ultraviolence.

In 2019, Antifa devised a similar plot by giving out free "milkshakes" at a protest. But they couldn't contain their bloodthirst and nearly killed me when they saw me. In 2020, they mobilized a fake "Wall of Moms" where female Antifa supporters and members wore yellow shirts to act as human body shields while violent rioters behind them hurled projectile weapons.

I'm not entirely sure how you solve the year group/developmental trajectory issue without upending the system though? Probably need to start with 'expected standards' but then you get into the 'soft bigotry of low expectations' thing.

The amount of gold in the background at the White House is basically a metaphor for how lost the plot is for Trump. 😒

Teaching Reading is also about bringing kids to understand there is a value in being able to read. It’s about realising that funny stories, crazy poems and journeys of imagination and fantasy are contained in books. If all they experience is the chore of chanting at letters, that value is not there

I very stupidly grew this and then tried to cook it like sweetcorn rather than popping corn. It didn't taste good. I need to try again and pop it instead!
