Finally done. Definitely a different vibe here than some people, but Silksong is a joy. 😌

I definitely talk about midgame spoilers to some degree, so be warned. Thank you to @trynant.bsky.social and @starrymirai.moe for proofreading.

Kayinworks - Silksong Loves You
I was, as is my normal way, not on the hype train for Silksong. I wasn't reading updates, I wasn't Silkposting. I wasn't desperately waiting for a release date. I had no emotional stakes in its existe...

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

It's not just that they're going to strike down a law against conversion therapy, it's that they're going to do it on behalf of made-up claims from a straw plaintiff who can't honestly show the law affected her at all

One thing about American's widespread distrust and disapproval of the Supreme Court is that mainstream news coverage mostly doesn't dwell on stuff like standing, so people don't even begin to grasp how rigged the Court truly is www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10...

📣 Germany's close to reversing its opposition to mass surveillance & private message scanning, & backing the Chat Control bill. This could end private comms-& Signal-in the EU.

Time's short and they're counting on obscurity: please let German politicians know how horrifying their reversal would be.

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

For LLMs in particular, treating them like abused employees tends to make them slip into fawn mode, from what I've seen

I'm not mean to toilet paper when I use it?

Being mean to anybody or anything corrupts the soul, is the issue

Thinking about this, being mean to AI is not off-limits

Some tools are single-use, you destroy them to achieve your goal

You can't destroy a person to achieve a goal

How you treat an AI falls into the realm of tool usage, completely separate from how you treat people, and conflating them is naive

i do not think that nonhuman things have feelings to be hurt but i do think the intent to hurt feelings is bad for a person notwithstanding whether the object of their sadism is real

What’s lost in this conversation is that language must always escape containment, so your playful little “clanker” slur is now being directed at people with bionic limbs.

Harmless fun, right? www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8AjSabH/

I honestly think that the problem with trans community is precisely the desire for, and implicit trust in, community. Thus goofy communism outbreaks. Thus past decades of supporting the NHS (truly nurturing a snake there). Thus sympathy for social construction arguments despite Zuckerist adjacency.

There's kind of two economic tendencies within liberalism generally. There's the "it's okay if the rich get richer if everyone's getting richer", and there's "wealth redistribution is a moral imperative on its own". I feel like the the second tendency has clearly proven itself to be correct
