Trump did a Friday Night Massacre, firing 15 inspectors general, completely ignoring the law that prevents him from doing this, essentially asserting monarchical authority over the government. Total contempt for democracy. Here is how the Times is covering it

Julie Gray, wife of Holocaust survivor Gidon Lev, who joined Musk in his visit to Auschwitz speaks out. She says that Musk felt nothing during the tour & only "cared about how he looked."

She shared this with me privately shortly after the tour, and I'm grateful she made her thoughts public.

The assault on NIH is a test for how the national media covers the Trump admin: Trump is shutting down medical research!

That is easy to communicate. Will they treat it as a 5 alarm fire in a way that forces the government to respond, or will they downplay & caveat it?

As of yesterday, President Trump fired only women on the ACUS Council. The men remain.
At least I was fired by email and not on Truth Social.

Each defendant assaulted him.

Hard to overstate how brazen this is. Last summer, conservative activists in North Carolina had a strategy call to discuss ways to flip close races in 2024, and when they discussed the theory in this case, even THEY were like "no judge will ever buy this" ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

Reminds me of the run-up to the Iraq War. Dems did not want to seem weak on an issue, and then when the public turned against it, they were as tied to it as Bush was.

Once officials do start rounding up immigrants, and the public responds, going to be hard for Dems to pin it on Trump.
Dems appear close to surrendering to Trump/GOP on the Laken Riley Act. Dem aides tell me they're particularly rankled with how Sens John Fetterman and Ruben Gallego rushed to endorse the whole bill. That undercut the potential to amend it later.

New from me:

Democrats Are About to Surrender to Trump in a Hugely Damaging Way
The immigration bill the Senate is taking up has some horrible provisions. With worse on the way, Democrats should not be caving like this.

One thing about punditry and consulting is that there's like no accountability. Matt Yglesias went on Joe Rogan to promote his book called ONE BILLION AMERICANS about increasing immigration like 10x. Now he's like "how could Woke Pressure Groups make Democrats take unpopular immigration positions"
