A US citizen & human rights defender identified as Rachel S. was abducted & beaten by ICE Trump regime forces in LA, then transported to the hospital and then a detention center, local rights defenders demand an investigation.

She is heard screaming: "Let me go! I am an American! I was born here!"

@sethcotlar.bsky.social, a real historian, takes on Prager U's "history" of the country. As I've heard it said on the internet, read it all. sethcotlar.substack.com/p/pragerus-t...
PragerU's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad History
The outfit that's making historical content for Trump's White House and America's youth has a history of doing history that has a fairly loose relationship with the truth

Republicans want to do away with intellectual and critical thinking. They want to ban literary classics by hiding beyond their own personal feelings of being “offended”.
BREAKING: Texas Republicans just passed a major book banning bill.

They say it’s about protecting kids from “filth.”

But when I questioned the bill author, he admitted that it could ban classics like Romeo and Juliet, Catcher in the Rye, and Lonesome Dove.

I said it would get worse very quickly. By tomorrow we will have completed the most dangerous & frightening 24 hours thus far of Trump 2.0. Just to name a few:
1. Defiance of a court order by sending migrants to Sudan without due process (despite clear DP decision SCOTUS) & Dist. CT. order.

The Trump-Supreme Court battle is not really the crisis.

The crisis is here now. Trump is enacting an insidious coordinated attack on our institutions of democratic accountability, designed to crater democracy before next fall.

1/ A long 🧵to explain the plan & how we stop it.

Oof, this needs a thread. Moin argues that (contra bluskey critics) we shouldn't hold back on criticizing the state of science because no matter what we say it'll be weaponized.

1) No one is actually arguing this
2) It *most certainly* matters.
New post! Should we hold back criticisms of scientific practices for fear that they will be weaponized by political attacks on science? Absolutely not. We need to recognize the distinction between scientific arguments and ideological arguments. getsyeducated.substack.com/p/science-re...
