WNED bills (no pun) itself as Buffalo-Toronto, so if people here feel like giving... (aka "Buffalo Toronto Public Media")
Today is 'Giving Tuesday'! Many NPR/PBS stations — recently defunded by the Trump administration and Congress — have matches that mean your donation will go twice as far.

Support your local stations! If you already do, consider adopting a station hit hard. Here are NY's: adoptastation.org/newyork
Adopt A Station - Rescue Public Media
Help preserve independent journalism and community programming across America by adopting a public media station. Congress has voted to rescind public media's funding.

Adam Raine's family sued the AI company in August. On Tuesday, OpenAI said in a new court filing that it isn't responsible for the teen's death.

I don't for a second think this will happen but I would cackle for days if the feds managed to get an electrified train line into Toronto Union station before GO transit.
Canada actually speeding up the construction of high speed rail?? Do my eyes deceive me??

“This will enable construction on Alto to begin in four years — as early as 2029 — instead of the original timeline of in eight years, towards the middle of the 2030s.”

#Finland will begin to #Russia - proof its rail network, integrate with EU train infrastructure.

The Finnish government has announced the conversion of its rail network from Russian gauge (1,524 mm) to European standard (1,435 mm).

Last Tuesday, as the strongest Atlantic storm in 90 years slammed the western coast of Jamaica with 185-mph winds, Bill Gates was downplaying climate change.
Respectfully, Bill Gates needs to shut up
The tech billionaire's climate pivot is cowardly—and profoundly unhelpful.

Deep dive into the surge in US pedestrian deaths:

"It’s not that more pedestrians are getting hit by vehicles; it’s that the ones that are getting hit are more likely to die."

"[That] seems like fairly strong evidence for the theory that the rise in large SUVs is behind the uptick in ped deaths."
Why Are So Many Pedestrians Killed by Cars in the US?
It’s unfortunately not uncommon for pedestrians to be killed by cars in the US.
