Theory: Huma has never collapsed
Fact: Huma is the reformed remnants of more than a dozen iterations of Emporia and is actually the weakest version of the super empire

A chainsaw orfireball however would hurt greatly. This makes him more likely to challenge the typical adventurer without concern for safety

Oakengrove has the title “Father of the Forest”. It is unknown to him why this title is his, aside from the fact that he is a treant, a literal sapient tree
He much prefers the wilderness but also doesn’t have the same survivability requirements other people would.
How does your character feel about nature?
Do they like the outdoors? Have good survival skills?
Or do they prefer the comforts and amenities of a city?
Some combination of both?

Oakengrove’s hair is exclusively limited to his massive beard. It’s made of garden-variety ivy. This was made by @/artcher as I wanted to have a proper character sheet for him
It’s not plot-relevant but it is a defining feature of him that adds personality

Oakengrove is not big on physical touch unless the situation requires it. His handful of big formal moments have all been largely standoff-ish requiring him only to be present
How does your character feel about physical touch?
Are they fans of a handshake, hug, pat on the back, etc?
Do they prefer to keep their distance?
Does it matter how close they are to the other person?

@voicesofvalhoon.bsky.social does a fantastic story with NB characters. I beta-read Songs of Broken Bells and it was damn good

It is considered normal in about 2/3-3/4 of the planet, places of known hostility is largely just the Empire of Huma & its duchies & Principalities due to religious fanaticism.
The other place is the Queendom of Avidina which has a strict matriarchy and flipped gender roles

Saea, my slime character. Slimes universally across most mediums are genderless blobs. Saea was granted sapience and has the innate capacity to shift forms at will to fit whatever need.
Their main variation is a fem-leaning, androgynous look. IMG is book 2 Alliance of Oak

Oakengrove is somewhat of a passive person with interpersonal relationships, but there is a specific scene I wrote for the prologue of book 2 that shows his first encounter with a wild slime.
He was so moved by its suffering at the hands of evil-doers that he not just saved it, but gave
Is there a way of showing love that your character is particularly good at? 💕

Currently nothing major. I just launched my new landing page via Carrd.co which is awesome, working on seeing about getting custom art for the background from my partner

Alliance of Oak is 42,000 words across 17 chapters. at the current rate and where I’m at in the story, Alliance of Oak will be larger than Heart of Oak by probably 10 chapters and 20-40,000 words

Don’t beat your head against the brick wall, it only hurts more. Take a break, and come back later
There’s an old WoW vid that I can’t find talking about how sometimes days are just f*cked and all you can do is just go back to bed and try again tomorrow
