Very, very disappointed to see my senator @baldwin.senate.gov providing any cover to this culture-war bullshit. This vote was a major, unnecessary self-inflicted wound, Senator.
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

I went to look for tickets to this game because I'm nominally in the area. More than half of the stadium is end-zone seats. The bleachers where your "fifty yard line" seats are an entire outfield away.
Who thought this was a good idea? Soldier Field is a fine alternate location. This is not.

The right sets the terms of our political discourse in so many ways, one of which is the idea that there isn't enough "debate" and "free speech" on campus.
We need to push back on this. The truth is (speaking for myself as a history prof), I don't really emphasize debate much in my classes/
