Gamer, dad, tinkerer and tech enjoyer.

Was a scientist until ME/CFS struck me down. Now plays Minecraft and sleeps.
Nice to see 2026 has started well. What even is international law for anyway?

Our Solar System is orbiting the center of our Galaxy at about 220 km/s so in 2025 we collectively traveled something like 7 billion kilometers across the Milky Way. Once in a while, when you have a moment, it’s worthwhile to take a look around, see where you are, and appreciate how far you’ve come.

Your all too often reminder that you don't own shows purchased on streaming sites. This time, Star Trek 🙄

Yes, yes, but how many Skyrim and Fallout 4 rereleases until we see Fallout 5?
Fallout 5 will exist "in a world where the stories and events of the show happened or are happening," says Todd Howard www.eurogamer.net/fallout-5-wi...

I've also been reminded that Sir Christopher Lee did some Xmas metal songs, and it's marvellous.

Thanks, random metal Xmas playlist for reminding me Korn did a very growly version of jingle bells 😆

Glad to see the opportunity to buy Tomb Raider again, but what about Skyrim? It's been ages since the last release.

The space based datacentre is probably the dumbest idea from the billionaire tech bros this decade.

Cooling is much harder in the vacuum of space. Put simply, there's no convection, no conduction, only radiation to remove heat.

This is like putting your computer in a giant, perfect thermos flask.
And, not to be a hater but...

If you hear someone saying cooling will be easier in space, you can instantly write them off as someone who has never read a single relevant book or paper and never talked to a single person with undergraduate level expertise. This is very basic.
