I 'll have a special rapid-response livestream for 8:30am PT today to discuss dire implications of this proposal to dismantle NCAR. Due to extreme fire weather in Boulder today (and associated pre-emptive power outages/NCAR closure), I am going live ASAP. www.youtube.com/live/FTKW68R...

I don't see how Tesla's Model 3 can survive if Benz can offer an alternative EV this cheap, with this kind of performance, on top of the 15% tariff that it's charged in the US.

Imagine what this model does to Tesla in Europe, where Benz pays no tariffs.

Really enjoyed Rental Family, which is a real thing in Japan. Movie works well and on several levels. I like how the audience learns about this unusual service along with Brendan Fraser. Acting is so good. And every shot is PERFECTLY COMPOSED. Hats off to the Cinematographer Takurô Ishizaka.

I am in love with my new motorized blinds. So much to love. Old corded blinds (14 windows!) were forever breaking (no exaggeration here), out of adjustment, hard to manage, time suck, and expensive to repair. New motorized blinds eliminate all those hassles and add so much more. I am so happy!

Well nobody played so now I have to repost. Sadly.
Post your 2 Truths and 1 Lie

Let’s Play:

1) I have shaken hands with Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Barry Diller

2) I fell overboard on a cruise ship.

3) I once sat on Elvira’s lap.

Post your guesses in comments.

Really enjoyed Good Fortune, a movie with a modern take on an old theme - Angel comes to earth to make despondent see their life through a hopeful lens. But that's just the beginning. Movie takes that old plot and extends it, twists it, and applies it to today's gig economy.

I heard some old friends at Pod Save America were in town, so I decided to stop by. As we saw this week, we can change this country for the better. But it’s going to take all of us getting organized and having honest conversations about the best way forward.

So I play the Fantasy 5 each week. (I justify stupid gambling since I don’t spend any money on drugs, alcohol, or smoking. My limit is $5/week but actually less since I reinvest winnings). On one of my tickets this week, the random pick was 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

Saw Tron: Ares in a theatre. Enjoyable. Neon-like graphics and pulsing music surrounds you. Story is just what you think it should be. Incredible VFX. Liked the throwbacks to the original. Very well done. Very fast paced action movie where the regrouping scenes are minimalized to almost nothing.

I once had my picture taken with Eisenhower, or at least a painting of him. He was the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, 5-Star General, 34th President, and Antifa Leader. Happy Birthday to Ike and best wishes to all who celebrate.

It's 2025 and I just don't think we need to italicize filet mignon and cabernet sauvignon any more. Those are just English words now. But sure, italicize magret de canard.
