Trump is shutting down Job Corps—kicking vulnerable young people out of housing, job training, and education programs with zero plan.

Don’t tell me this man gives a damn about the working class when he’s gutting the very programs that help folks get on their feet.

Trump, Musk and Rubio have sent millions of the poorest people in the world to their death. On purpose.

Why? For tax cuts for billionaires? To appease Putin? What is the possible justification for this?
SecState Rubio claims that no on has died because of USAID cuts and suggested that I had lied in my reporting. So here I show him photos of specific children who have died because of the Trump administration's reckless cancelation of aid: www.nytimes.com/2025/05/31/o...

Reminder:

When companies pay less than a living wage and don’t offer healthcare, their workers are forced to rely on taxpayer-funded social safety nets like Medicaid and SNAP.

That’s not a handout to workers.
That’s a handout to the companies exploiting them.
REPUBLICANS: You need to get a job to receive Medicaid

AMERICANS: What if my job doesn't offer healthcare?

This is like a satire of the US political press, so desperate to punch left rather than right that they are ginning up a "scandal" about a retired pol with no role in the party while Trump & crew lay waste to the republic.

How can anyone look at this and still take that profession seriously?

Three words should guide our work as Democrats: Make Life Better.

Make life better—for the working mom trying to stay afloat.

Make life better—for workers fighting for higher wages and paid leave.

Make life better—for young people dreaming of a real future.

That’s our work.

About half of all births are covered by Medicaid.

Over a third of all kids have health care thanks to Medicaid.

More than half of all nursing home residents are covered by Medicaid.

So understand this: when the GOP attacks Medicaid, they attack families in every community.

This was the point in the @propublica.org story on pricey cancer drug Revlimid where i got angry.

The price has gone up 26 TIMES since 2006.

Yet, @davidarmstrongx.bsky.social found a deposition where a top exec admits the drug has ALWAYS cost just $.25 to make.

To Democrats, the point of expanding Medicaid to cover more people is...to expand Medicaid to cover more people.

To Republicans, the point is...to DENY coverage to as many people as possible by including as many barriers & hurdles ot it as possible.

THE PARTIES ARE NOT THE SAME.

What's happening with these grants is much more complicated and mostly unknown. None of the NIH have been officially cancelled. The NIH was just ordered to stop paying. They got the Unis to enforce silence on their own campuses because they thought they were "negotiating" and cld get the funds back.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has identified over 19,500 children who have been forcibly deported to Russia, Belarus, or occupied territories. So far, only 1,300 of them have been safely brought back.

Around the world, abducting a child is a serious crime punishable by years behind bars. But when the kidnapper is Russia, justice remains a distant hope. So does the child’s return home. Since the s...

this is legitimately evil
Just to be clear, this is a violation of the fundamental ethical principle in clinical trial design called "equipoise."

Equipoise means that no-one is exposed to excess risk just to test the therapy. That's specifically *why* vaccine trials don't use placebo arms.

Ethical violation as POLICY.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr will require all new vaccines to undergo placebo testing, WaPo reports
U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr intends to shift the way vaccines are tested, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday, citing a spokesperson from the HHS.

Why would anyone do horserace coverage of an election that already happened, based on an imaginary scenario?

Bad enough to focus on horserace over substance leading up to an election—wrongly focusing on the odds, rather than the stakes, as @jayrosen.bsky.social put it—but doing it now? Abdication.
I truly have no idea what you’re supposed to do with the information that the imaginary scenario where Kamala is currently president is doing worse in job performance polling than the current scenario where Trump is president

If you're frustrated that not even Donald Trump is held responsible for what comes out of Donald Trump's mouth, yet every elected Democrat has to answer for everything any lefty rando anywhere might say, know that it's because media outlets like the New York Times insist it must be that way.
No. It is not the job of ordinary citizens to show perfect message discipline.

It is the responsibility of actors with agenda-setting power — like, say, national newspapers — not to treat random-ass people exaggerating as a threat equivalent to the madman president.

I suspect this slogan would not have been tremendously popular:
"Trump 2024: Your kids are going to get fewer toys and the ones they do get will cost more"
Trump on China: "They made a trillion dollars with Biden selling us stuff. Much of it we don't need. Somebody said, 'oh, the shelves are gonna be open.' Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls, and maybe the two dolls will cost a couple of bucks more."
