Reading this historical fiction by Stacey Lee. She is a master of the genre--but it will be hard for her to top Kill Her Twice. That novel...😘

Oof. We moved from rural OH to suburban CT in 1981, and the women in our neighborhood were...something. 😳

They'd walk en masse by our school bus stop in their color-coordinated velour tracksuits to say "good morning" to each child down the line and skip me every time. Oh...kay.
If you were a kid who looked around at the adults in your community, and mostly felt unimpressed, it does not get better 😂

TRUTH.
The fact that Netflix could afford to buy warner brothers means they could've afforded to let us share passwords.

Hmm. Architect of a nonsense machine accuses others of "absurd bullshit" and thinks they are in a bubble. 🤨

Same here--and teacher/mentors (high school, grad school) said years ago that my creativity gave me an edge.
Im genuinely so befuddled by this; I DON'T LACK IDEAS.
I have so MANY ideas and plans--its time, money, and energy I lack. I don't need genAI to make up stuff for me, my brain does that perfectly well, and I actually love that my brain does that for me.
I’m embarrassed for these people. I was at a writing retreat this summer that suggested we use genai for ideation. They told academics to use a plagiarism machine for ideas. If you are doing this, do us all a favor and leave the field. If you have no more ideas, you shouldn’t be an academic.

The rapidity with which the GOP has worked to destroy all public health in the United States is shocking to me.

It shouldn't be. I've officially been chronically ill since 1998 at age 25--I was hearing eugenics ideas before I even knew there was a name for that. 💔

TRUTH. 💔
Their very obvious claim is that it’s racist discrimination to *have a policy to address racial disparities* but it’s fine to have a system that simply creates massive racial disparities. The correction attempt is the outrage. Not the disparities. Because they are white supremacists.

When I met my husband, I was more educated, made more money than he did, was more independent, and had better credit. In the 25 yrs we've been married (anniversary is next week!) he's always given me credit for helping him turn all that around. 😊
The way these dudes are so triggered that women aren't stuck in horrible relationships.

They better hope consumer sentiment does NOT "catch up with reality." 😳
BRENNAN: When do you anticipate voters will feel this positive impact?

HASSETT: It's definitely the case that consumer sentiment right now is lower than anyone would like, but we find that very often happens during a govt shutdown, but the sentiment will catch up with the reality

Legit. It's a gateway.

LESS BULLSHIT. MORE BOUDICA. 🔥
The United States government is being dismantled and instead of treating this like a goddamn emergency and putting it on all channels all the time like people need to know their house is burning down, Dems are giving mealy mouthed statements about bipartisanship. But then they want us to care?

Looks like some kind of "make a hat" party where somebody forgot to bring markers to share.🤨
Yes its a real photo from today. He looks like a fucking idiot. Nobody will dare make fun of him though in the MSM.

Yet…Mike Dukakis was humiliated in 1988 for wearing a helmet in a tank, despite the fact he served in the U.S. Army (in Korea), unlike Cadet Bone Spurs. Amazing.

Reading is a punishment from the first time a shy student or hesitant reader is made to read aloud.

Reading for homework, with no direction provided whatsoever?--> Pointless exercise in drudgery for millions of people.

Is reading for pleasure being modeled for kids? 🤔
Seeing some discussion of the value of reading, which is an excuse to advance my belief:

Reading is worth doing because it is deeply pleasurable. We think this isn't a good enough reason because of our puritan streak, and because we think we do things for pleasure constantly but we really don't!

I got "demeaning."

Trump's understanding of economics is as deep as a thimble and nearly as wide.

His notions of decor are akin to those of a toddler who scribbles the walls with his 1 favorite (gold) crayon.

His moral compass is skewed such that Darth Vader is the hero of his Star Wars.
Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

This is my friend's cat. Its name is Cookie Swirl, and it disappeared in the American section of Charlotte airport on 11/10. We're asking for your help. She doesn't have any other socials, so if you can post it widely to see if anyone knows where it is. It's a little thing, but matters a lot to her.

*sigh* I suppose we should be grateful there isn't one planned to commemorate Trump's birth. 🙄
Quarters that were meant to honor the abolition of slavery, women’s suffrage, and the civil rights movement will no longer be produced, The WSJ reports. Instead, the Treasury Department will replace those with designs honoring the Mayflower, the Revolutionary War, and the Gettysburg Address.

Our premiums are going up 17.6% next month--worse than that?

I tried to do my homework when I chose the policy, but I found out yesterday that MY REALLY REALLY EXPENSIVE MS MEDS ARE NOT COVERED. 😳

I can appeal this. But we know how reasonable insurance companies tend to be. Trans: I'm screwed.
Q: At the end of this year, those extended Obamacare subsidies expire. What's your message to those 24m Americans who will see their premiums go up?

TRUMP: Don't make it sound so bad. Obviously you're a sycophant for Democrats. You're obviously a provider of bad news for Republicans.

*nod* Go to any random store and buy 2 pencils. Sure. And those will last how long, exactly, given what happens using the average pencil sharpener and through general use?

LET THEM USE PENS-->next week's msg?
Trump wants your kids to ration pencils & dolls while he gets massive ballrooms, luxury jumbo jets, & taxpayer-funded golf trips.

What a greedy grinch.
Trump: "You can give up certain products. You could give up pencils. Because under the China policy, every child can get 37 pencils. They only need 1 or 2. They don't need that many. You always need steel. You don't need 37 dolls for your daughter. 2 or 3 is nice. So we're doing things right."

But--but--vaccines can't be healthcare! They are in a completely separate section of the dictionary. 🤨
Fucking Wild to argue that letting babies get sick with Hepatitis B isn’t about health care
Bill Cassidy when asked about having RFK Jr. Testify about changes to Hepatitis recommendations: “we’re focused on health care right now”

Me: but you said in your testimony when you voted to confirm him

Cassidy: “Excuse me, I've answered that a couple days ago. But let me just focus on this.”
