I am now hearing from multiple folks in the past two hours (including some who have personally been fired) that mass firings have now commenced within NOAA--including, yes, at the National Weather Service.

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.
Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

I wrote about some bills introduced this session to improve passenger rail service in Oregon. That mostly means more Amtrak Cascades service, but the sponsors are also thinking about the former Pioneer route in eastern Oregon and possible connections for Willamette Valley and Central Oregon cities.

We need to shift our messaging from "Democrats SHOULD talk about..." to just SAYING IT ourselves (I'm guilty too). Don't lament the asymmetry in the media; we already know the media would destroy Biden if he blamed a plane crash on some amorphous framework like DEI. Instead, start making the case:

The plan was to understaff everything, at least until you could staff it all with Project 2025 or Twitter Blue Nazis. Almost shocked at how quickly the danger of that showed up.
Trump, Vance, Hegseth, and Combs all said they were briefed on the collision, so they all knew about this internal FAA report when they went on TV to blame minorities for the crash.
