Sveriges Lärare blev ett skämt.
Facktoppar som kämpat mot marknadsskolan går nu direkt till friskolejättar och deras lobbyister. Academedia, Watma, Almega – alla rekryterar från lärarfacket.

FIFA does NOT care about fans being angry online.
FIFA does care about:
1 Broadcast contracts
2 Sponsors
3. Player participation
Any boycott that doesn’t threaten at least two of those will fail.

It’s like deja vu, seeing whatever happened to mainstream newspaper and channels in India under present far-right leadership, now happening in the US too. Never thought the day would come but countries we once aligned independence and freedom to, no longer ring true.
POLITICO compiled a list of all the Washington Post staffers who have left in the past eight months. It’s at least a hundred names, many of them among the biggest names in journalism. This is the fastest erosion of a major outlet ever.

Seeing this gives me hope, where Indian mainstream news and TV channels just rolled over and gave up to far- right BJP, in USA, they are getting together and not surrendering without a fight.
In case you missed it, here's Jon Stewart's blistering response to the cancelation of Stephen Colbert's show:

My latest for The Guardian:
A government that claims to take concerns over crime and national security seriously, while ignoring violent neo-nazi groups, will struggle with its credibility.
Sweden has a long tradition of refusing to talk about racism. Racism could still decide the next election:

Paying the mob off in plain sight. The standards are that low, atm.
Think about how insane this is. I know we normalize every abnormal thing Trump does, & he floods the zone & numbs us, but a leading media organizing rolling over & agreeing to pay $16m to the president because he didn’t like how they edited an interview?? What country is this?
BREAKING

Paramount has settled the lawsuit President Trump filed against it for the 60 Minutes interview of Kamala Harris.

Paramount will pay $16 million in total including fees and expenses.

The money, minus fees and expenses, will go to President Trump’s future presidential library.

I don't think most people - including Swedes - realise how captured the current government is by the far-right brain worm. The coalition only exists thanks to the votes of the Sweden Democrats, whose roots are firmly in neo-Nazism.

As an Indian, feeling jealous of all the pushback Americans are giving Trump and his government. While, in India, we are just pushovers to Modi and his regime the second time round too.

Swedish journalist Joakim Medin is being charged with 'insult' and 'membership of a terrorist organisation' by Turkish authorities.

He risks a 12 year prison sentence. His trial starts on the 30th of April.

All European journalists and human rights defenders need to speak out in full force.
Stor uppdatering om Joakim Medin:

• Åtal väcks för både ”förolämpning” och ”medlemskap i terrorgrupp”
• Han riskerar 12 års fängelse
• Första rättegången startar redan nästa vecka, 30 april

As an Indian must confess, seeing Dems and Reps against Trump push back is making me jealous and mourn for an India that could have been, if it weren’t for the indifference and subservient nature of most Indians. Spirit of revolting is dead as fascist PM Modi and his goons continue their reign.

Do not listen to bullies. U.S. military planes arrived in Greenland at a U.S. military base — bc the PM REFUSED to meet them. Delegation includes Congressman Mike Waltz, who plan to make the islanders “an offer they can’t refuse.”

HOW is this not an act of war?!

This is how they annexed Hawaii.

Seeing this makes me awestruck about Americans’ grit but simultaneously sad for Indians’ indifference in a similar situation. Indians just allowing the dictator PM ruin India as a democracy and more.
“Are you worried?” That is always the first question.

“Of course I am worried,” I respond. “The president of the United States considers me an enemy and has promised retribution. I would be an idiot not to be worried. But I am not going to give in. I will continue to fight.”
