Why Trump’s Calls to ‘Nationalize’ Voting Have Raised Midterm Fears
www.nytimes.com
This IS big.
This is big. Speaker Johnson’s procedural loophole to avoid a vote on Trump’s wildly unpopular, cost-raising tariffs failed. I’m glad my bipartisan resolutions in the Senate to undo Trump’s tariffs have passed, and now it’s time for the House to vote to do the same.

The inhumanity of these people is sickening. There has to be accountability for their horrible treatment of these people.
if you remember the FBI + ICE + local raid on a horse race track in Wilder, Idaho that detained hundreds of families (including many kids & U.S. citizens) the @acluidaho.bsky.social just announced a lawsuit.

The complaint is just as disturbing as previous reporting www.aclu.org/press-releas...

Yet another win for the good guys. If only we were living in normal times when all these court cases would be unimaginable in the first place. We know with Trump that the intimidation and expense to his "enemies" is the point.

Another one for the rule of law.
JUDGE JOHNSTON: “Today, immigrants are being detained without due process. Tomorrow, under the Government’s interpretation of the law, American citizens could be subject to the same .. This Court will not allow such an unraveling of the Constitution.”

Again, NJ governor Mikie Sherrill was the first I heard to decline to go. Now the NGA is moving on this officially. Good. Trump loves to pit sides against one another. So petty.

I hope this vote succeeds -- and don't forget to mention the bridge that Trump is threatening to close down between Canada and Michigan.
“.. Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.), said he is inclined to vote to end the tariffs on Canada.

“.. ‘We have a trade agreement with them, and I don’t like how the White House has treated our neighbor and ally,’ Bacon said Monday in an interview.

As always, well worth the read. And Tom often "gifts" his articles -- so no griping about paywalls. I have already recommended subscribing to THE ATLANTIC. Lots of fine writing to be found.
Hegseth, among others, is using the school as a punching bag to express the generic social anxiety and status-based resentment that drives much of the MAGA movement.

This ugliness and unlawfulness should be made to stick to those responsible FOREVER.
When Texas lawmakers tried to visit 33-year-old “political prisoner” Leqaa Kordia at an ICE facility, she’d already lost 50 pounds and was running a high fever.

By Friday, she was hospitalized. But her family still has not been able to locate her.

Why does the president of the United States think it is appropriate to endorse Victor Orban in his re-election bid? He should stay our of the election of other countries -- and out of the running of elections by states in this country.

These agents are savages. There is no excuse for not prosecuting every one of them.
ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

Brilliant. Tell me how this makes America safer. The poor prosecutors must be furious that they are constantly undermined by their own government.
What a disgrace.

ICE may have handed a suspect in the largest jewelry heist in American history a free pass by deporting him before he ever faced trial.

This is the result of Stephen Miller’s chaos. Reckless mismanagement that undermines public safety and makes a mockery of the justice system.

Petty, provocative and pointless. This is how they occupy their time rather than working on behalf of the country.

The number of lawsuits against the government is going to be unsurpassed for sure. And a drain on resources that could be better directed elsewhere.

@kim.senate.gov did an excellent job explaining what the loss of funding for the Gateway Tunnel would mean tonight on his townhall call. And he is right, Trump alone takes the blame for the cancellation of funding. The job losses and the added costs when it gets back on track are needless.

Reviewing video from Fulton County elections raid.

Taken aback by the dismissive & sneering attitude from FBI agents toward the cop politely asking to see the warrant.
