There’s beauty in finding community that includes you after others repeatedly marginalize and exclude you.

Blessed are the excluded.

In Topeka today advocating for funding for Special Ed. There is currently a bill in route that would have $0 of increase for SPED over last year. Not even any CPI adjustments… not acceptable for our kiddos.

Fox News has one the most effective discipleship programs than any other church. This is why (one of the reasons) we are in the mess we are in.
Yesterday different people (who don't know each other) told me the same thing-that Southerners (in particular) are ignorant of what's going on w/Trump/Musk, including plans to cut SoSec, Medicare, Medicaid, bad economic trends.

Because of FOX News, the single source of info in most locations.

Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world's grief.

Do justly now.
Love mercy now.
Walk humbly now.

You are not obligated to complete the work,
but neither are you free to abandon it.

May we love like Jesus loves.

A tale as old as time.

Power-hungry Christianity has been around about as long as Christianity.
as a medievalist, as a church historian, let me say that within the long history of Christianity, I cannot emphasize enough how actually normal this is.

this is Constantine, Charlemagne, Frederick Barbarossa, Louis IX, even Henry VIII!

this is still Christianity, as empire-hungry as it is.
“To say no to President Trump would be to say no to God.”

Meet televangelist Paula White, who Donald Trump just appointed to lead the White House ‘Faith Office.’

This is not normal.

The problem is not just that Trump thinks of himself as a Messiah; it’s that too many Christians want their Messiah to be more like Trump.

I turned on the WH press briefing just long enough to the see the new press secretary wearing a huge cross hanging around her neck.

I wept.

Ugh. Wearing a big cross while demonizing immigrants & attacking Christians who minister to immigrants & refugees. Performative Christianity is often divorced from actual teachings of Jesus.

Jesus wasn’t born in a mansion with golden toilets. He was a Palestinian Jew living under the occupation of Empire. He lived in solidarity with those on the margins & his harshest words were aimed at his own religious leaders. He taught the powerful won’t enter the kingdom the meek & powerless will.

If you're in an unsafe domestic situation and have a hidden secondary phone: the sudden noise of tomorrow's national test for emergency alerts could disclose the location of your hidden device, so it's best to power it completely down during that time.

Stay safe.

Many LGBTQ+ Christians have been the beaten-up man on the side of the road in the Good Samaritan story.

I used to think most church leaders were the religious folks who walked by the man without helping, but now I think they’re the robbers who beat him up in the first place.
