Australians think this, Australians think that is such fucked up arrogance from our public figures. Nobody knows what 27 million people all think. Not one of them has remotely represented my views or the view of people I have real conversations with about 14 December 25.

Twomey’s legal analysis is obviously very sharp but her political nous is nonexistent. These are not “unintended” consequences, they are the entire point the bill was rushed through.

Really sad how useless ABC political "analysis" has become. This piece claims concerns about the hate speech legislation are predicated on "misinformation" and strongly takes the view it was good, uncontroversial lawmaking.

Nationals' walkout leaves Coalition in tatters
The departure of every single member of the Nationals from the frontbench is bizarrely both a failure of the Coalition agreement and a result of it functioning as intended.

Both major parties were so committed to criminalising criticism of Israel they rushed through legislation that is fundamentally opposed to their own values, and are reaping the consequences. No normal Australian wanted these laws. The Coalition split is just the first symptom of this disconnect.

Hi Australia. Now we are having a national Day of Mourning today for the victims of the Bondi attack can we, the Aboriginal people, have our day of mourning on Jan 26 back please.

We have mourned on Jan 26 since the first day of Mourning on Jan 26 1938 and we would like it back.

This means the banning power can be used when hateful conduct is directed at Judaism but not at Islam, Hinduism, Christianity or any other religion. It also does not apply to hateful conduct against the LGBTIQ+ community, women or people with disability. It deliberately carves them out.

Bluesky is so transparently a liberal project which squelches any communist or Marxist thoughts. This kind of posting wouldn’t even get off the ground on the other place.

Alternative rock could be run so much more efficiently. How necessary are a singer, guitar player, bass player and drummer. You could get rid of all of those positions and replace them with one guy who just shows up at the venue and hawks crypto

Your rights are being eroded so Israel can commit genocide without criticism  - The Shot
Across the Western world, criticising Israel's genocide in Palestine is being stamped down. News laws and a culture of fear make it hard.
