Not to make everything about gender, but it really feels like the only way you come to this conclusion is if you think meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking are all menial tasks that should be done by your mother or wife, rather than basic life skills that you practice and improve.
Treatler-Stalinism is a real ideology and an actual, tenured crackpot historian (who used to be a quite good historian) is a true believer in it.

We live in some goddamn interesting times.

DOCTOR: I told him he needed to get out to a show, that was how he would cure his depression.

CHOTINER: So you learned this technique in school?

DR: No, not— listen it was good advice. Pagliacci was in town.

C: Right. Is it standard to give advice before learning a patient’s name?

DR: Now look

This is a poem.
In Norway that thing is so common it has it's own name: Skare. Wet snow that's frozen so you can walk on it. When I was a kid our moms used to sew footwear for it; reinforced woolen socks. They weigh nothing, and you can run on top of the snow. Feels like flying.

This is also why I find it so maddening when reactionary centrists spend their time debating what trans people "did" to draw the ire of the right. It's completely backwards from reality. The right latched onto the issue because it's a gateway drug to every other form of bigotry!
Graham Linehan made a willing place in his heart for evil, and once you open that door wide all the horrors come in.

I actually really like that we all try out little new habits and rhythms at the beginning of the year. Even if most of them don't stick, I really like being able to try on a different version of myself and see if I like anything about it.

kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

many reasons this take is bad, but DC has one of the best theater scenes in the country. People aren't going to forget how to go to a show because one specific theater implodes its reputation
This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

This part of the last chapter in Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” always brings tears to my eyes. Scrooge goes from fearing, resenting and isolating himself from humanity, to finding the joy of immersing himself in it. A reminder so potent today it makes my heart ache.

A small (personal) example of this book’s intellectual dishonesty:

My father-in-law is reading In Covid’s Wake, and excitedly told me he found a passage where I’m quoted. The quote in question is me saying the FBI worked to censor speech on social media.

Huh? When did I say that?!
