Newsom: If California, one of the most un-Trumped states in America, is not successful, it’s at our peril. We may not get this back. I’m telling you, we may not.

He is rigging this next midterm election before one vote is cast. He tried to wreck our democracy after the last vote was cast last time.

This sentence, typed in her dissent, should scare the living fuck out of everyone in this country.

"This Supreme Court is an existential threat to the rule of law."

I’m Indigenous. My people were colonized, brutalized, and brainwashed. And still—I believe in the good immigrants bring to this country.

The benefits outweigh the harms.

We cannot silo or isolate. We must adapt, evolve, live, teach, and love. That’s how we survive.

That’s how we thrive.

I want to also point out this whole thing has been a gigantic ad for the concept of ranked choice voting in general, which takes a lot of the vitriol out of primaries in particular and better represents voter preference. What's not to love?

I have an activist friend who often repeats this quote: I’m not an ally. I’m an accomplice.

God, I love that.

As a teacher, I can’t accept gifts worth more than $50 in case I were to treat that student more favorably as a result.

We should hold the same standards for our President.

New — I spoke to the school principal of Sackets Harbor, NY, where ICE handcuffed and disappeared a mother and 3 kids (including a 3rd grader). It’s also the town Trump Border Czar Tom Homan calls home.

Cook tells me about how the small town is taking on enormous power to bring the students home:
Try that in a small town
ICE disappeared a mother and 3 children. Neighbors of Trump's Border Czar said hell no.

Trump crashes the economy, while grifting for himself, his family, and his cronies—with no shame about this. How dumb do you have to be to accept this? And please, don't come at me with talk of economic or cultural grievances. He's playing millions for fools.
Even as the stock market crashed, President Trump was in Florida at his Doral golf resort and Mar-a-Lago club helping pump up family businesses, evidence that Trump continues to monetize the presidency. A NYT behind-the-scenes look with Theodore Schleifer and Zolan Kanno-Youngs nyti.ms/3XPqyIa

The party was on at a Saudi-backed LIV Golf tournament at the president’s Doral resort in Florida and a fund-raiser at Mar-a-Lago, even as markets tumbled.

They can’t close the Department of Education. Only Congress can do that.

But, they can dismantle it, create chaos and confusion, sow further distrust in the public education system, and create conditions across states that are fundamentally unequal.

And, that is the point.

Cool so what happens if GOP attach a national abortion ban to a CR? You'll vote for that too?

🚮
My YES vote is *not* an endorsement of this deeply flawed CR.

My YES vote is 💯 about refusing to shut our government down.

I refuse to punish working families and plunge millions of Americans into chaos.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down.

It's amazing (but not surprising) to see how standing up to Donald Trump drastically imrpoves the approval ratings for foreign leaders in their countries. Maybe some more politicians in the U.S. can learn this lesson?
