Feels like a number of people have a hard time calling direct aid, direct aid. I don't know why. Not all direct aid is part of mutual aid but many mutual aid efforts INCLUDE direct aid. The key here is INCLUDE which suggests that there is more happening than direct aid in mutual aid efforts.

Yesterday, when Bovino announced ICE would be returning to Little Village today, some of us donated and fundraised to buy out street vendors in the neighborhood. This morning, volunteers hit the streets at 6:30 am, looking for vendors to buy out. Tamales make an excellent breakfast.
