My friend and amazing author @janeire.bsky.social has a story in this issue - haven’t you always wanted to know more about a weather witch, who really, is just a girl in the end? (No for real, don’t cross her)

Just saying this because I need it out of my head - my mental health diagnoses technically make me disabled.

I have spent $$$ & time to be functional. The disorders STEAL from my personality & self.

So while I understand many disabled folks don’t want to be “fixed”, i am trying to be fixed

When I sign up for events, I usually mark myself as a vegetarian even though I’m not - because explaining the specifics of the type of meat I will eat requires a flow chart.

Is it smart? Endangered? Cute? Would it eat me given the chance?

Raccoons hanging out in the storm drain like Pennywise

My cat yelled at my husband for kissing me because he was in My Space and she hates when he violates Her Space.

And i had to be like “it’s okay. He’s got consent, but i love that you’re girl’s girl”

And then my husband was like “why are you talking to the cat when I’m kissing you??”

My Uber driver, Jose, is blasting Shania Twain’s “Man, I Feel Like a Woman”

I, a white elder millennial woman, ask him if he picked this song just for me

He does not know enough English to understand my question. I don’t speak enough Spanish to communicate it. We smile warmly at each other instead

It’s not that I NEED my ADHD meds to be functional, it’s that without them it takes me far too long to realize the reason I can’t find my phone is that I’m holding it my hand and using it as a flashlight.

My loves, before arguing about the difference in the pedo and ephebo philias, I want you to imagine yourself holding a hammer.

And then imagine yourself interrupting the act of either of those philias.

If someone ends up dead by hammer in both, I don’t think the difference matters

Finally achieving your goal after 85 submissions and over 50 years of effort, and then having to walk away?

As a fellow author said in our Discord group, this would turn me into The Joker.
On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

Idk, just letting you know that these kids grow up if you feed them. They get educations and good jobs and pay taxes that feed other hungry people.

I’m glad my taxes pay for SNAP and other assistance programs. I feel like we all owe each other so much.
This is just a regular reminder that in the early 90s when I was a child, my school lunch cost was reduced. Society fed me.

Someone(s) also left at least one basket of food on our doorstep because my parents were too proud to accept it directly. Again, society fed me.

This one time, my nearly blind, arthritic dog who had dementia and would frequently get lost on the wrong side of a tree, looked like he was painted yellow

Little fucker (i love him so) figured out how to climb up on kitchen table and rubbed his butt on some flowers.

This feels a lot like that
Some of the stray dogs living near Chernobyl have recently turned blue. This confused scientists for weeks, until they realized they had simply been rolling around in chemicals from a nearby set of portable toilets. 14/10 for all
