I trim, dye, & style my hair every 4-6 weeks.
I do my own gels (nails).
I've been lucky enough to be in situations where makeup is provided, but have never paid for it.

Hair alone would run me thousands a year with how long it is. It wasn't an expense I was willing to pay while employed. Now? Phew.

Forever glad that I taught myself to do my own hair, nails and makeup at a young age. Beauty standard conversations notwithstanding, it's a critical skill to be able to do on your own when you're on camera and don't have studio backing or the funds to throw at a salon.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections
