This is not hyperbole. You are mistaken if you think you can keep your head down and ride this out. The historical analogy is apt and we are running out of time. At there very least, I want my grandson to grow up knowing that at least I tried. What is your legacy going to be?
Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.

It’s hard to believe that one man can cause so much stress, so much fear, so much pain and suffering…a man who took an oath to preserve and protect our Constitution. This man, who is inciting terror across our land, must be removed from office. In a sane world, it would happen immediately.

TWO! A Whopping two R Senators! (I have no doubt that Susan Collins is "deeply troubled" over this matter, but has only signed on to this to burnish her "moderate" bona fides because she expects that her vote will ultimately not matter)

Mr. Friedman commented further saying:

"If this happened to a conservative organizer, Republicans would make her a hero, a household name and a congressional candidate.

Elected Democrats just pretend it isn't happening."

The last part is a big reason were are in this mess in the 1st place

Another excellent story from NYT's vaunted investigative journos. Or it would be excellent if it wasn't at least 3 years late. This seems to be a trend. See their coverage of Trump's health.

This is a very good analogy. It should be noted that they not only do they claim to be able to ascertain the "true" meaning of the text, they also assert that they, _alone_, are the only ones capable of doing it
An analogue I’ve noticed between fundamentalist scriptural exegesis and jurispudential originalism as actually practiced in the wild: Both enable a kind of ventriloquism by assuming univocality in the texts they purport to interpret.

The fact that not a single reporter tells Mike Johnson “let me read it for you” or “here it is” when he claims he hasn’t seen or doesn’t know a thing about the psychotic ramblings of the head of state is not only a dereliction of journalistic duty, but a display of pure cowardice.

The historical pattern is clear--this is where Trump's and ICE are headed if we don't put a stop to it. Many will call this hyperbola and it will be the same people who mocked those us warned of Trump being a threat to democracy.

"Things Happen". Yeah, and that "Thing" that happened was the guy sitting next to me had Khashoggi murdered, dismembered and stuffed into a suitcase for writing things about him that he didn't like. (At least my SIL was rewarded w/ a 2B investment from the Saudi's for it, so it wasn't all bad.)
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."
