Oof yeah. Wrote a 28-page research paper on Faulkner's Sanctuary the day before it was due and spent the next two days feeling like I'd had a ministroke. Mental overexertion is REAL

I had to look up what that means. Relieved (disappointed?) it's not a sex thing

I wrote my 5-page philosophy paper a few hours before class, but I had a fever and was DELIRIOUS, so I wrote it in the style of a Socratic dialogue and made an A.

We should all tell our stories like this...mine is "the time I totally forgot about an essay and cranked out a paper on Deleuze & Guattari's Anti-Oedipus in two hours and ended up winning an award for it"

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

At least the paint is real, applied by a human

This was an interesting one

I threw this movie on tonight out of curiosity, and while it took a few minutes to get going, I was intrigued by what it was saying about life in our super online, content-driven world and the cost of performative "authenticity." Clearly a microbudget film, but $250? That's fucking wild.

I made a feature film for less than $250, and it is now available through POV Horror!

It’s called .ask, it’s a found footage movie, and I made it as inspiration/proof of concept for hopeful filmmakers. Learn more here:

*tries to think of a new topic*

Hey, um

*panics*

So how about MY FATHER THE HERO? What was that all about

There’s an interview going around about AI, so before there are any questions, let me state unequivocally that BLACK PHONE 2 is 100% organic. AI was not used at any stage of the filmmaking from idea generation, research, look books, writing, onscreen images - anything. We’re old school and love it.

I do, but I'll be good because it's a school night 😇

🧡🎃QRP your Pumpkin Art!🎃🧡

I honestly can't believe I have this many, and I plan on making some this year, too 😆 😈🎨🦇
A watercolor painting of 3 Jack O'Lanterns: one happy, one sad, and one michevious, sitting in a field with some mountains and the moon behind them. A vintage style illustration of a ghost with a Jack O'Lantern for a head standing next to a black cat and a sign that says "Happy Halloween." A yellow moon behind some clouds smiles down on them and bats fly around in the air. A pastel drawing of a pumpkin. An acrylic painting of 3 Jack O'Lanterns and a pumpkin.

Respectfully disagree about it being his only good movie BUT it is criminally underrated and deserves more love.

Apparently she's MAGA, but she's still right on this point

Author and filmmaker Justine Bateman on generative AI
"They're trying to convince people they can't do the things they've been doing easily for years - to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies - to write that for you." We will get to the point, she says with a grim laugh, "that you will essentially become just a skin bag of organs and bones, nothing else. You won't know anything and you will be told repeatedly that you can't do it, which is the opposite of what life has to offer. Capitulating all kinds of decisions like where to go on vacation, what to wear today, who to date, what to eat.
People are already doing this. You won't have to process grief, because you'll have uploaded photos and voice messages from your mother who just died, and then she can talk to you via AI video call every day. One of the ways it's going to destroy humans, long before there's a nuclear disaster, is going to be the emotional hollowing-out of people." - author and filmmaker Justine Bateman from a piece by Emine Saner for the Guardian

Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida Parton, is asking for people to pray for her sister’s health.
Verified Facebook post by Freida Parton. The caption reads:

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me. She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you! ❤️”

Below the caption is a photo of Dolly Parton standing outdoors in front of lush green ivy, hands clasped in prayer, wearing a shiny silver outfit with lace-trimmed sleeves, her signature blonde hair styled in soft curls, looking upward serenely.

The texture has a satisfying graininess to it that I kind of enjoy.

On a related note, why are mellowcreme pumpkins amazing despite being made of the same stuff as candy corn?

I think it's funny that he references a Hays Code era movie to make the point that Hitchcock had lines he wouldn't cross. Like, yeah. It was 1960.

Anyway, I'm a proud sicko because Bring Her Back is probably my favorite movie of the year.
