also I have a piece in here about how Hegseth can’t even roll out a new Gemini powered military AI platform without fucking up and making numerous military and DoD personnel suspecting that it was phishing or illegitimate, reporting it for that, and not getting a straight answer for hours
In today’s ‘First Draft,’ House Democrats start to throw their weight around, Donald Trump inches ever closer to war with Venezuela, and more movement in the Epstein files saga.

Ready today's 'First Draft' by @petertwinklage.bsky.social:

💪 Dems Finally Flex Their Muscles
Liberal lawmakers begin to plan their return to power, Pete Hegseth fumbles the military’s AI rollout, and Tucker Carlson makes a decent point... for once.

How to buy yourself a needy malignant narcissist? Just offer him a phony, made up "Peace Prize" & he's all your's!!!
No need for a formal ceremony as he'll snatch from the box & put it on all by himself. Both laughably pathetic AND pathetically laughable. 🤡 🫣

Donald Trump and Republicans gave billionaire corporations a giant tax handout to "incentivize" investments they ALREADY MADE.

As far as I'm aware, they don’t have a time machine.

It's just the latest excuse to throw money at billionaires while Americans struggle to get by.
Corporations to claim $16B from retroactive GOP tax break, federal report says
The Republican tax law's bonus depreciation provision is expected to cost $362.7 billion over the next ten years, with corporations claiming $16 billion in new tax breaks this year.

How we beat back the corporate takeover of America:

1. Break up corporate monopolies

2. Continue building union power

3. End Citizens United and get big money out of politics

Let’s keep working to unrig the system.

If Congress follows Trump's directive to rename the Defense Department, it could cost taxpayers nearly $2B in new signage, letterheads, and digital code.

Imagine if we invested that money — and our bloated military budget as well — on the American people instead of the Pentagon.

I have been at this Medicare for all since 2016.

This was me running for Congress in 2018.

I stand by every word.
This was me in August 2018, running for Congress.

I was right back then, and I am still right.

Maybe the GOP jacking up health care premiums to astronomical numbers will open people’s eyes.

Medicare for all is the only rational and morally decent health care policy.

Voters want a Democratic Party that fights back against the forces that have rigged the system and made their lives more difficult.

A party that comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable —not a party that buckles and capitulates.

When will party leadership learn this lesson?

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.

Few thoughts:
1) Not about SNAP, benefits were going to be restored via lawsuits/states. This was about flights-corporations being affected.
2) Too convenient that the eight senators were handpicked because they are not at risk right now.
3) Democrats were given a mandate/winning & blew it again.

Yes. The Senators who voted for this are complicit. Their vote sustains a system that has already decided healthcare is a privilege, not a right.

They know full well that Republicans have no intention of funding the ACA or addressing the healthcare crisis — yet they chooses pretense over principle.

Today, sold-out politicians block progress on all fronts to appease their corporate donors.
