Just and Beneficent Ruler of the Universe. Please take me as seriously as my title deserves.
Largely improvised dinner of sherry-braised pork ribs turned out … but okay. A worthy experiment. Boneless ribs may have worked a bit better, or a bone-in different cut. Still, plenty tasty and filling on a chilly night.

First time charging the EV in sub-zero temps. Much slower, and thus more expensive at the DC fast charger. But far better than trying to stretch to get all the way home.

Home from a holiday concert by the New Standards, featuring jazzy renditions of classic holiday tunes like “Love is the Law” by the Suburbs, “Snow Days” by Trip Shakespeare, “Life During Wartime” by the Talking Heads, and “Everybody’s Happy” by the Buzzcocks.

My 13th Age players (all new to the system) have stumbled upon an anti-mook stratagem: the bard casts Lingering Melody upon a mook, the rogue hits the mook with an arrow. Resulting 4th level damage of 4d6 (14 avg) + 9d6 (32 avg) results in an average of 3 dead mooks (15 hp each) and often a full 5!

Went to the Winter Lights display at the Arboretum. When getting tickets a month ago, an early December night (especially an “adults night out” event) seemed a great idea. Cue the coldest temps of the season so far! Lights were still pretty, but I only took gloves off for inside photos.

In addition to #evolution games for kids, I did one about the solar system. The publisher did a lovely job with the pieces, and the educational elements are sneaky. A dad told me it was his 7-year-old's favorite game ever! Xmas is coming! #kidsgame #astronomy

First run with the snowblower this year. Got our driveway cleared and sidewalk for the block at least partially cleared. Some rental properties didn’t clear the small snow we had Wednesday, making things harder.

Reporting a murder in the Como neighborhood: 20+ crows foraging in the yard kitty-corner from my house, in the street intersection (water pooled where leaves have blocked the storm sewer), and among the trees.

New TV delivery was a bust. Wednesday, truck pulled up waited a bit, drove off. Only then do I notice the “unknown number” call on my phone. Rescheduled to today, guys come to the door, begin unpacking. Notice a big dent in top of screen. So now we wait for replacement.

It appears to be bird and mammal “stock up before the storm” time in my neighborhood. Juncos, sparrows, chickadees, flicker, jay, and a decent-sized crow mob all hanging about, scrounging up what they can. Squirrels have upped their “get that nest ready” activity too.
