An examination of Trump's weird Venezuela oil scam shows that it makes no sense economically and offers no benefit to the US or to Venezuela. www.ft.com/content/8073...
Donald Trump’s imperial Venezuela folly will leave America no richer
Like the Spanish conquistadors, the president’s search for mineral wealth in South America will weaken the US

"The long term improvement in casualty figures as a result of, for example, seat belt legislation and reduction in drunk driving has stalled because cars are becoming more dangerous – not for their occupants but for those outside them. Yet, somehow politicians sit on their hands."

One of the many unfulfilled promises of the Labour government has been its commitment to a road safety strategy.

A very long and important THREAD -

The real reason the US is invading Venezuela goes back to a deal Henry Kissinger made with Saudi Arabia in 1974.

And I'm going to explain why this is actually about the SURVIVAL of the US dollar itself.

Not drugs. Not terrorism. Not "democracy." 1/

A good reason why REJOIN is not the way to describe what we need to do

Rejoin conjures up the idea that we can just return and start all over again as if nothing happened

We can’t rejoin under the same terms we had before

We can only JOIN as a fully committed new member

Imagine if in 2026 we decided everyone should have access to:

Housing
Food
Clean water
Childcare
Healthcare
Paid time off
Education

We can choose to make it happen.

We can stop blaming people for being sick, poor or marginalized & start demanding more from the elite.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.

Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.

Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.

But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.

Remember this.

All that needs to be known about the UK is that the company that built bombs to drop on children continues to operate with no consequences.

While some people who sprayed paint on a plane to try stop Genocide are locked in prison without a trial.

That is UK 'justice'.

This is incredibly obviously going to be the rolling problem with a “tougher” immigration stance. We still need people to do things. And, ultimately, either we hire/retain them or the things don’t get done. Everything else is hollow rhetoric.

Critics argue that the ECHR stops us from being able to deport illegal migrants. In reality, in 75 years the ECHR has only ruled against the UK in 13 cases out of 500k: 0.000026%. The ECHR is being used a scapegoat for domestic challenges, and we must defend it.
