You can't just eat food. You've got to talk about it, too, and you've got to talk about it with someone who understands that food. - paraphrased from Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

Let’s talk about abolishing ICE.

Very few people who say “abolish ICE” mean “abandon all immigration enforcement.” Rather, they mean “the structure of immigration enforcement is irretrievably broken and needs to be reorganized, just like we did 23 years ago when we created ICE.”

Nice, calm dinner at our local tex-mex place. Got the kids fried ice cream for dessert because of the special occasion.

Odds of making it to midnight? Not good but that's OK.

If you're making a trip to the Heights HEB and only need a couple of shopping bags worth of items and have no mobility challenges, I highly recommend parking on 23rd street between Shepherd and Durham this afternoon.

Curiously, inside the store wasn't so crazy as of about 1:00pm.

Celebrated the mid-December chill in Houston by making a slow braised bowl of pork and red bean stew with veggies.
Just the thing for those dark and brisk days when the temperatures plunge into the low eighties.

This is an irresponsibly favorable profile of RFK Jr, painting him as a vaccine skeptic rather than what he is: fervently anti-vaccine. Whether the reporter caved to pressure from RFK Jr or is so ignorant of science he doesn’t understand how many will come to harm bc of him, this is shameful. +

At about 12:30 there was almost no line to vote at the SPJST lodge in Houston's Shady Acres. That said, it was pretty busy with a nearly constant flow of voters in and out.
