Israel accepts that it killed 70k people in Palestine, the overwhelming number of them were civilians. Does it still maintain that this was an act of self defence? Palestine has the highest rate of child amputees in the world - is this also part of that self defence?

Occupation of a city. Killing innocent people. Lying about the killing. I’ve never been more ashamed of my government. I spent 6 years in govt. 4 in politically appointed roles. If this had happened then, I’d have resigned. Anyone political in this administration there Monday is morally culpable.

Great powers have always, to some extent, written the rules for themselves. But this should be a reminder that for all we might lament the “rules based order”, it’s largely gone, if it ever existed. Hard power is the only thing which matters now. Europe needs to wake up to the new realities.
