"Maduro is a brutal authoritarian dictator," I wisely intone, as the corrupt demented paedophile US President violating Constitutional Law while operating a gestapo and concentration camps illegally arrests a foreign leader on charges which read like they were written on a paper placemat in crayon.

My stance with the “never Trump” right remains: These are the people who fucking built Trump. Years of shit in service of Reagan, Bush, Romney, McCain paved the way for Trump. I don’t trust them. They’re rotten. I trust the people who opposed this shit all along.

there is one and only one political strategy, and that is: “hang trump like an anchor around the neck of every single elected republican and the party itself.” no ‘friends across the aisle.’ no ‘the fever will break.’ anyone not on board with that has to go. no exceptions

Handwaving away your party’s embrace of antisemitic conspiracy theories by saying “at least we’re not controlled by George Soros” is the most ridiculously quiet-part-loud thing I’ve ever seen.
JD Vance: "Wouldn't you rather lead a movement of freethinkers who sometimes disagree than a bunch of drones who take their orders from George Soros?"

The first soap episode I watched (rather than just being in the room while my mom or grandmother were watching) was the very start of Luke and Laura on the run from Mr. Smith. variety.com/2025/tv/news...

the lesson from doge is not that we need to cut waste fraud and abuse better. the lesson is that GOVERNMENT FULFILLS MANY VERY IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS and that among those is SAVING THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF CHILDREN.

Please don't put your feet up on the seat in front of you. Unless Duffy is in that seat, in which case go for it.

Same with not reclining your seat all the way back. Don't do this unless Duffy is in the seat behind you.
Duffy on his demand that air travelers not wear slippers or pajamas: "It honors our country ... don't take your shoes off and put your feet on the chair ahead of you"

I owe my mom an apology. She read that he’d said this about people dressing up more for flying and I thought it was too stupid even for the “afraid to take a subway” guy to be real.
Duffy: "Trump talks about the golden age of transportation. But the golden age in transportation truly begins with you ... People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly ... so we want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season: Help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

Maybe don’t elect people who’ve never bought groceries, paid for a tank of gas, navigated open enrollment, dealt w/ doctors or insurance co. over billing/authorization issues, paid some bills (& maybe checked their bank acct first). Just some basic functional skills.
TRUMP: We’re going to give Americans the money to buy health insurance

REPORTER: But won’t they buy it from
Insurance companies?

TRUMP: Ahhh. Some may. I mean they’ll be negotiating prices

The reason the emails read like hot garbage is because they don't have to worry about being judged. These are not men who have ever poured over an email out of fear of not being taken seriously or not being treated professionally.

He lacks everything you want in a Sec of Defense: intelligence, leadership, experience, good judgment, seriousness, etc. But he has some physical fitness skills, so that’s what matters most to him, along with the racism and misogyny.
Hegseth: "I don't want my son serving alongside troops that are fat and out of shape, or in combat units with females who can't meet the same combat arms physical standards as men in their units."

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Regular reminder that Axios stories saying Dems are about to cave are likely sourced from GOP staffers trying to make it happen.
Doesn't mean it definitely won't happen. But it's like those NYT stories that Harvard is considering caving (they haven't). The anonymous source was trying to manifest it.

They don’t even pretend to care. This is the only story. You can’t open the government if the House refuses to show up.

First time voting in-person in a while. I missed coloring in the bubble, but using a touchscreen to make my selection, then printing it out so there’s still a physical ballot is 👍🏻.
