The final piece of my postdoctoral work in the @freudlab.bsky.social was recently published!

Quite amazing what this small little repair polymerase can do to fill 1-nt gaps in chromatin.

Is chromatin ordered or disordered? It all depends on the linker DNA length.

Check our latest work with Mike Rosen and Sy Redding. We explore how changes in linker DNA length (as small as 1 bp) fine-tune chromatin structure, between order and disorder, and the properties of chromatin droplets

Also nice to see recent work with similar mechanistic insight! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Great collaboration between the @freudlab.bsky.social, @k4v1.bsky.social , David Cortez, and Steve Roberts labs. The penultimate piece of work from my postdoc.

Our preprint from earlier this year on the oxidation-induced mutational landscape in human cells was just published! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

I’m still amazed how much chromatin structure impacts oxidation-induced mutagenesis. Our cryo-EM contribution in this work provides a glimpse into why!

Today was the last day in lab for @tmweaver.bsky.social. We enjoyed lunch and gave him a 3D print of his first cryo-EM structure.

Tyler's era was marked by incredible science, friendship, fun, collabs, and cats! He will do amazing at UVA running his own lab. We will miss you buddy #gogetem 🥹

Super excited to share our latest paper led by graduate student Mariia Mikhova! She used single molecule live cell imaging to dissect the kinetics of DNA break repair by non homologous end joining. We estimate the NHEJ pathway can repair up to 1000 breaks per minute!

Time to introduce myself! Incoming Assistant Professor at UVA-SOM. Interested in chromatin structure and DNA repair.

Here is some of my final work in the @freudlab.bsky.social, where we determine how 1-nt gaps in the nucleosome are filled during DNA repair.
