Everyone around me irl keep dropping in the fact that they use AI in every day life and work and it makes me feel like I’m going crazy especially when I push back and ask if it’s worth the consequences and the response is always, in the end, no 🫠 And yet this is just the average person now!

But a lot of it is that we’re always big, dumb, barbarians. Always lesser, always backwards. No high magic added in nor learning or dreaming shown. Yes, violence was a part of the culture, but there was trade & religion & family, too. They pull threads from our tapestry & then say it’s threadbare.

Text: Question for fantasy lovers whose culture is commonly depicted in standard western fantasy or eastern fantasy (Such as Welsh/ Chinese/ Norwegian) What kinds of depictions or mistakes in writing these sorts of fantasy do you personally think disrespects your culture? And what do you think are respectful ways of adapting your culture/ mythos? It can literally be anything you see in fantasy ie. Names/ geography/ languages/ creatures/ etc. TLDR what are your pet peeves and what do you like seeing instead? Text: A CHYMRAEG Being more specific- I know some people are irritated when they feel some stories "mash up" a bunch of European lore/ mythos/ creatures together. However, other media that include a meld of different mythos/ cultures incorporated into their stories like LOTR, Bloodborne, forgotten realms, etc get overwhelming praise. Why is that? What do you think seperate the disrespectful from the sincerely inspired? 1511 Is it a sense of feeling like research was done? Is it when it's well written? Is it the accuracy? Is it just vibes? I'm genuinely curious! These are media I love and I want to know why people of the cultures that inspired these stories feel seen in a way that other fantasies don't
