Feels like something cracked today in the transatlantic alliance. Europeans have been swallowing their pride, bitting their tongues, and bending the knee. That strategy may have bought them time but it has now clearly failed. It also had a major cost - it has made the WH think Europe will cave. 1/

I left university in 2019 with £49,600 of debt. A few months later, I became an MP and have since received a salary that puts me in the top 5% in the country. 6 years on, the repayments from my salary have brought this total to down to £48,600 - just £1,000 less.

Reform are shysters but this is the future for many local authority assets. No capital to replace or repair them.
Reform UK Councillor John Baker threatened legal action when we said Reform UK’s Kent Council was selling the historic Folkestone Library building in Grace Hill.

They had promised to keep it open.

Well guess what? They’ve now sold it:

These reasonable demands include the UK changing its foreign policy and compromising its defense supply chains.

No, I don't think the govt should give into blackmail and encourage more people to self-harm by negotiating.

The hunger strike is naive and self-defeating. It takes attention away from the suffering of Palestine and could, if they follow through, loses the strikers their day in court to make their case.

A lot of people think we can solve all conflict by discussion. That’s what we in the privileged West are taught. We go on negotiation courses to discover the other party’s position and ‘get to yes’. But there is a distinction between counterparty and enemy. If you discover that too late you’re dead.
The Greens are shrewder than the Corbynites (not hard) but they are not emphasising the need for any kind of military alliance - on the contrary, they seem to oppose one. Dialogue is the answer to the acute threat posed by a hyper-aggressive dictatorship built on war and a hatred of us, apparently.
