"ICE is violence-prone because its main purpose has become theatrical. Under present leadership, ICE is less a law-enforcement agency than it is a content creator.

This video is the perfect encapsulation of the illegal, thuggish, unprovoked, violent conduct of ICE. Rep. @benniethompson.bsky.social, I trust that you and the House Homeland Security Committee will have interest in this.

There is a longer version of the video of a kidnapping of this kid - there really is no other word for it - here. As he is being shoved into the DHS vehicle he breaks down. At about the 2 minute mark you hear a DHS agent say "wow - fucking child" sarcastically.

Any Democratic votes to fund DHS later this month as Minneapolis is being terrorized by DHS is going to be a major slap in the face to Americans living here. Demand major reforms or shut the government down.

It would take a two-word amendment to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 to subject ICE agents and other federal law enforcement officers to the same liability for constitutional violations that local and state officers currently face.

If Congress actually cared about what it's seeing, it could pass that overnight.

We are far past the stage of permissiveness with white-supremacist violence inside DHS. We are witnessing ICE transition into a death squad.

This cannot be reformed. The only question is who will fight to abolish it, and who will accommodate it instead.

What ICE/BP is doing to Minneapolis is awful.

And it's taking everything they have. By population, Minneapolis is America's 45th largest city.

Keep both in mind at once: the regime's desire for authoritarian domination is bottomless, and they'll act on it, but their capacity to do so is limited.

According to the MAGA crowd, you aren’t supposed to protest. You aren’t supposed to “yell at” or “challenge” the militarized federal agents occupying your city. And anyone who wants to be “protected” should probably just stay “in their homes.”

As numerous commentators point out, we are well past this. ICE agents are assaulting people with impunity. They are aggressively violating the 1st and 4th amendments. They are the regime’s heavily armed thugs. And they’re being cheered on by the right-wing propaganda machine.
I think it’s important to point out: ICE does NOT have the same authority as a police officer. They do NOT have the power to enforce laws, only to engage in their specific tasks.

IE: they don’t do traffic, etc. impeding traffic is not a penalty ICE can enforce against

The Framers of the Constitution knew all abt guys like Trump--failsons of inherited fortunes, who could barely tie their own shoes but were highly skilled at making life miserable for their fellow citizens--which is why they insisted on eliminating inheritance practices that created those failsons.
The irony in watching Trump in the White House babble at the CEOs of some the world’s largest multinationals is that not one of them would ever hire him for anything. His stupidity and ineptitude comes through inside of five minutes. He’s also obnoxious and just weird as shit.
