My wish for 2026 is that politicians and political analysts realize that public opinion is endogenous to elite behavior, that polling single issues tells us nothing about electorally successful strategies, that politics means shaping public opinion and that popularism is the death of progressivism.

People dismiss information about economy, foreign relations or politics as "complicated" and multi-dimensional - a defence mechanism against cognitive dissonance. Spitting on someones grave is a simple "you just don't do that" that eludes this. Too easy to imagine it happening to your loved ones.
Fascinated by all these people who are like: rampant corruption was fine, staggering racism was fine, colluding with the Russians was fine, destroying USAID was fine, demolishing the White House was fine - but a tweet about a dead movie director? That was really too much, I’m done with this guy

The plan says that "A dialogue will be held between Russia and NATO, mediated by the United States." This implies that both Russia and the Trump administration don't see the US as part of NATO in any real sense. That should deeply alarm every other NATO state.

I just spent some time on "the other site" and the new substitute for the class antagonism is an antagonism between pensioners and young employees fueled by demographic fears. Do you have a think-tank for that already?
