So Bama won.

Ended up watching Glass Onion & Wake Up Dead Man w/ a good friend & my sister instead of the game.

Did I wear a Tulane tee to work today to annoy the numerous Buckeyes & single Bama fan I have as colleagues?

Reader, you already know.

Dad made the local paper with his blacksmithing hobby (hobbies adopted when a chemical engineer retires to southern Appalachians).

“Do you know how to read?”
“No. It is one of the black arts.”
He nodded. “But a useful one,” he said.

Go Navy! Beat Army!

Interesting how having a sister-in-law in the Navy has trumped my long friendship with a retired Army captain.

This film, which I have held in my heart ever since I went to see it with Dad at age 11 and he said, “It seems like the sort of thing you’d write.”

Every one of my friends has been forced to sit through this at least once.

not liking black licorice is a sign of moral failure
I was so bored on a flight from Finland that I asked the stewardess for some black licorice and spent the whole flight eating it until I liked it. It worked
what do you mean you hate black licorice? do you also hate picking at that itchy little bit of skin around your fingernail? do you also hate walking in the rain when a cold breeze cuts through you? do you also hate the feeling of knowing you've let down a loved one?

I think I’m going to acknowledge my New Orleans birth & be a Tulane fan for the playoffs.

Hail to the Hoosiers—but OMG, expectations for new coaches are about to become even more ridiculous.

It's not fair to punish teams for losing. It's not fair to reward teams for winning. The only fair thing is to declare my favourite team the national champs

I think they should make sure the 4 best teams in the country get in then just add fun teams

Slightly worried about all of my Buckeye surrogate parents, friends, acquaintances, and colleagues.

But only slightly.

Skyline, you make me giggle sometimes. Also, I think at least the Ryan Day wrecking ball graphic was used last week too?

Think my dear friend Kim & I will be doing this for 2026.
Come join me in reading and learning about a whole range of women's writing in the long eighteenth century!

It's online, it's only $55 and it runs all year! It is an absolute steal.

(And yes, there will be Gothic! As well as plenty of other things)
