Human rights are everyday essentials, including our right to work, education, healthcare and community.

For disabled people, that depends on being able to get there. This Human Rights Day, we're asking for a transport system that makes our rights a reality.

Recommendation to allow bikes on footpath is a cop out. Cramping walkers and riders together is dangerous especially for mobility challenged people. Our 30kmh main st would be safer if bikes/cars shared traffic lanes. My ob is that motorists drive slower when road design does not prioritise them.
"Car speed limits should be dropped to 30km/h in city centres and bikes be allowed on footpaths, a [NSW] parliamentary report into electric bikes and scooters has recommended… [And] while fat bikes are of particular safety concern, e-bikes generally are a legitimate method of transport."

The move to drop Sydney speed limits to 30km/h and allow cyclists on footpaths
Reducing car speed limits to 30km/h and forcing e-bike riders to get insurance are among the recommendations of a months-long state parliamentary inquiry.

Freedom of Movement is a CIVIL LIBERTY guaranteed by Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Movement along a public road in NSW is a legislated RIGHT whether by ‘foot or…otherwise’.

Driving a motor vehicle along a public road is a PRIVILEGE.

Not cool to abuse a privilege to deny a right.

Pollies whine community expectations can not be met by government.

Really?

They send our resources OS for a pittance, allow corporations and obscenely rich to pay little or no tax, undermine worker rights and gaslight citizens into ongoing dependence.

Welcome to the enshitificene.

3 things that stood out from a 1984 reread.
1. Doublespeak etc sounded like lotta today’s corporate spin.
2. Snooping of the ‘telescreens’…how many voice activated devices are currently listening in on you? Give a shout out to the muskrats?
3. Gambling key to keeping the ‘prols’ distracted.

This one is doing the rounds, for obvious reasons.

Um… public transit is regularly marginalised by being tacked onto networks designed to prioritise car travel. As such it is often less convenient, less connected and unsafe. Open your eyes as there are plenty of examples of good integrated design where PT is appreciated and used.
Like every transit planner, I hate cutting transit service. But sometimes we have to.

There are two ways to do it: planned cuts or random cuts.

If your leaders don't have the courage to do planned cuts, they'll get random cuts.

Here's why that's worse.

Economic Terrorist

All the deeply hurtful lies, hate and punishments are delivered to distract.

So how do we avoid distraction and confront the plutocracy?

I’m told my disability is what restricts my movement. Not so.

The truth…

✅Road design that excludes walkers and cyclists. ✅Lack of safe footpaths.
✅No public transport.
✅Dangerous drivers.

There’s a word for it.

Discrimination.
