Hopefully, I can get to 1000m at a sub 2min/500m pace before the year is up (been working on stroke technique).

I absolutely detest having to quote Munger, but he was spot on with this one: envy is the absolute worst of the seven deadly sins. With the others at least you can have some fun!

Yes, this is now a koan slop account on weekends.

Ok, last time I’ll post about it here. The Geolocation feature is back on Twitter, and apparently for good this time. I also believe this is the right take:

So Twitter fully rolled out their Location feature last night. Was live for maybe an hour. Got pulled. Probably because this started happening to many of the largest U.S. politics themed rage bait accounts on there.

Here comes the Dutch tender.

Personally, I thought they would have waited for lower prices.

Regardless, as I like to say, I can hold my own in insurance, but would get worried if I found myself on the other side of a transaction from the White Mountains boys.

About $380M in (GAAP) equity - about $270M in working capital.

Market cap now is ~$770M

Iain Banks' Culture series is of course great fun.

Not quite utopian (sci-)fiction, but since the young'ns are unlikely to have heard of him, let me recommend Stapledon's, "Last and First Men", as well as "Starmaker" (you will be absolutely astonished to learn that they were written in the 30s...
You know, I want to read more utopian fiction. Something has changed in me. What are some of your favourite reads imagining a future where we all survive this, and build something together?

"It was the day my grandmother exploded."

I will never be able to live down the fact that it has taken me, a self professed Iain Banks stan, till today to get around to reading The Crow Road.

Gently (very gently) taps the sign and suggests looking at the capital structure of this entity and then the market cap.

Question: where do you want SNAP recipients to buy groceries?

We do agree that we want them to buy groceries, right?

Maybe we also agree that we want them to buy groceries at the most affordable (say measured by lower prices for equivalent items) grocer?

Anyway, carry on.

This is wild. Thread nobody will read on our innumerate and illiterate news sources. In 2020 the GAO released a report on Medicaid and SNAP beneficiaries ***who work***. This is the source for many of the claims you see about these programs (Walmart etc) - Bernie was one who requested rept
