The origin of 'pedigree'. This type of C12 figure (not a family tree but a way of calculating relatedness – the titles of various relatives have not been put in the circles) looked like a crane's foot, thought medieval folk. So 'pied de grue' and hence 'pedigree'. Source in alt.

Here's a comparison of the transporter console LCARS display with the red "LOCKED" button in the original ⬆️ and remastered ⬇️ version of #StarTrekTNG's "Half a Life". It's always interesting to see how the remastering brings out the original colours and hues of the LCARS displays.

As a young Assistant Professor, I attended a lecture by Watson at UT Austin. I was excited, I mean..DNA… I learned no science from his talk, but did learn he was a flaming sexist and racist. Worst of all, it went unremarked upon by my colleagues and the field. My lesson: this is what we face.
