If you’ve ever tried to spend a night trying to follow the arguments of students who were never taught penmanship because that’s a thing of the past, often written in light pencil, then you know what torture is.
Does anyone else bristle at this framing? WSJ says blue books are “torturing” students with hand cramps, and “nobody likes them.”

Listen, students have been outsourcing everything to AI and cheating their way through college. Blue books should be celebrated as a return to authentic human learning.
They Were Every Student’s Worst Nightmare. Now Blue Books Are Back.
Cheating with ChatGPT has become a huge problem for colleges. The solution is painfully old-school.

Hewing to "civility" and (already badly derived) norms like "don't prosecute anyone who's ever been president even if they've done actionably, hideously vile things" is uh… yeah it's the American way. From failing to properly hold accountable the Confederacy, to not prosecuting Nixon, to today.
I will never ever ever understand how the Biden administration had all this nuclear-level dirt on Trump and didn't pull the ripcord. You can try to explain it but it will never make sense.

GTFO.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

One thing that I haven’t seen mentioned about the Trump Reiner tweet is that apart from being horrible and narcissistic, at the root of it is Trump saying that Rob Reiner’s criticism of Trump made someone so angry they murdered him.

Within that is a threat for any Trump critic.

Trump's foes and friends have noticed a revival of the term, which advocates say is harmful to Americans with mental disabilities.

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

People throw around terms like genocide quite freely online but it’s hard to find other words to describe this level of man-made death.

Eliminating cashless bail makes perfect sense as long as:
-you know nothing about how cashless bail works.
-you don’t know about the studies that show how successful it is.
-you don’t mind that cash bail unequally affects Black people and other people of color.
