Having lived for 58 years in UK am now happily enjoying my retirement in Cork, Ireland with my 3 dogs. Not having to spell my surname is a bonus. Remain curious and keen to learn after a career in education. My chief concern is climate change.

A joke for the history buffs:

This is Dora. She is two & a half. I have just been told by the vet, following a test, that the lump on her chest is not cancerous. Just a benign fatty lump 🎉 🐶

Sadly true.
We will either end fossil fuel dependency and the predatory extractivist basis of global production, or they will end us through wars and ecological collapse - all at the same time.

Great news in Cork! This derelict building is being transformed into a hotel. Exactly the action we need for all vacant properties. My recent council motion calls for compulsory purchase powers to bring hundreds back to life. Well done!

I made this error in a History tutorial at Oxford when reading out my essay (over 40 years ago). I was mortified and live with the embarrassment to this day.
I did that too. And awry was awe-ree until I made the connection!

This was probably the biggest climate demonstration in Ireland since 2019-2020!

A huge Green Party turnout at the National Climate March today to call on the government to stop the U-turns and get serious about climate action, nature restoration and ending fossil fuels.
