Gonna have to stop using this account and scrap this and all related usernames elsewhere because I am a fucking idiot and have left myself unsafe. If you're a mutual and want to keep in touch please add me @turnedtofire on Instagram and I'll share any new username I make there.

Weird, now both posts show the new one. This fucking website is so janky. 3/

None of this will happen overnight because my life is fucking on fire at the moment - sorry for any confusion btw as I got distracted and switched my profile pic to match that account halfway through making this thread, looks really weird to me as the first post has my old pic apparently?

Hearing aids are also much more effective if you start using them sooner rather than later, and deafness, if you’re not part of the Deaf community, is isolating. (Which may help explain the dementia business, but the isolation is miserable even if it doesn’t affect you that way).

What if there is a tech device that will substantially decrease your risk of dementia?

My new blog post. And yes, I have started using this device.

(Hearing aids. Hearing loss is strongly associated with dementia risk. Hearing aids solve things.)

A Tech Device to Prevent Cognitive Decline and Dementia
Imagine if there were a tech device that could substantially decrease your chances of developing dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Would you be interested in using it?

Being autistic and asexual can mean constantly being told you're “missing out” on something essential to being human.
But what if we flipped that narrative?
What if it’s not about “lacking”

Right now British citizens have the right to live & work in Ireland & apply for naturalisation. Domicile is based on the Common Travel Agreement. Given volumes of UK LGBTQ ppl reconnoitring & moving here, it’s important to sort out your plans: www.citizensinformation.ie/en/governmen...

This page discusses the Common Travel Area between Ireland and the UK, an area which is not specifically provided for in legislation.

If you are LGBTQ or an Ally, UK Labour hates you. Find a centre, or left wing, party instead. This is a very clear message to Queer ppl from Labour’s front bench. Nasty.

Owen Jones has been banned from 'Labour' Party conference - but Maya Forstater is welcome.

And they wonder why progressive voters are deserting them in droves.

And they're so badly placed - half the time they cut the vlogger off mid-word, never mind mid-sentence.

IT'S #CHOICESANTHOLOGY RELEASE DAY!!! To celebrate, I'm hosting an AMA here ALL DAY

Ask your questions about the anthology itself, reproductive rights, and writing/editing generally & I'll pop in every 30 minutes to share answers

And be sure to grab the book! books2read.com/u/3JYo9Q
Red paint background with the cover for Choices: An Anthology of Reproductive Horror on the left. The cover lists the editor, Dianna Gunn, the author of the foreward, Alex Woodroe, and the names of the authors: R Haven, Ondine Mayor, Enoli Lee, Ash Vale, Justine White, Kelli Etheridge, Ava Victoria Black, Allay Rei, Soyam Siddha, Sam Rosewilde, A.H. Davison, Meg Calendaria, KT Wagner, Anne Wilkins, Bogi Takacs, Amanda Cecelia Lang, Elise Scott, Mia Dalia, Raluca Balasa.

The right side says: “As the horrors close in around us, we turn to story to process our fears, our desires, and our futures. In Choices: An Anthology of Reproductive Horror, nineteen writers whose reproductive rights are under threat explore the stories of those who, like them, have had their choices stolen from them.
These stories serve as a reminder of the power of choice and the importance of fighting for every human’s right to choose their own future.”

Found: an actually consistent politician. He's consistent about being a conniving, fascist bigot. People really need to start looking at the behaviour and the policies behind the affable "we could have a drink together and I defo wouldn't leave you with the bill" manner people inexplicably fall for.

Got a Labour MP? A great time to write in and say “I welcome the news reports that the two child benefit cap will be removed in November, and yet very disappointed to hear rumours it may just change to three or four child cap. Don’t punish kids for their parents’ circumstances, remove it totally” 😊

EXCL: Rachel Reeves is set to lift the two-child benefit limit in the budget with officials exploring options of a new tapered system.

The Treasury is exploring if it might instead be limited to three or four children – or whether there could be a tapered rate.

At this point I just want to see Labour sink. This plan of theirs to gatekeep ILR behind a checklist including working, paying taxes, volunteering, and having no history of being on benefits demands of new residents (you know, the saviours of our NHS) a standard many of us cannot meet.

On the morning of Keir Starmer's conference speech here's a new post on an odd psychopathology in British politics - our main parties don't like the people who vote for them - the dreaded Professional Managerial Class. And so they are acting out like a divorced dad seeking cooler voters. 1/n

It's amazing how every time you think Tony Blair can't get any deeper into his extremely lengthy villain era, you find there's yet another unconscionable thing he's willing to do.

I'd hope so - my hospital's been really good about ensuring I stay on the in-person list, as we never got the online appointments other than for psychotherapy and I have a hard time with the phone due to autism. I also worry about people in domestic abuse situations losing medical privacy.

It’s wonderful to see Kieran’s book on multicultural Britain getting the plaudits it deserves… you will not find a more humane and beautifully written book on this complex topic. Unfortunately, it is also both timely and essential reading for the moment in which we find ourselves.

Folks, reach out to posters when they go quiet, especially those who suffered totally unjustified levels of deeply personal targeted abuse. It’s a shame to see valued posters like @katymontgomerie.com being (we think) bullied off social media.

Get angry.

Wow, that's a hatchet job if ever I saw one. OCD isn't curable but they're doing a really good job of making out it was some transient thing: I'd imagine 14 is when she was diagnosed.

I'd assume same staff: that's how it was done during lockdown when I was shielding. In my area we never got the online appointments, but my usual team ran phone clincs, and it freed up capacity as the call was with one staffer; the team then met to discuss all the calls, take actions etc.
